Guaranteed student loans and guaranteed “insurance” for all enriched the govt, universities, and insurance companies. They helped the elite and the uninsurable, while hurting the middle class immensely.
Similar to guaranteed housing for migrants. When the govt decided to give endless $, landlords knew they could raise rates on everyone. Again, the middle class suffered tremendously.
And of course add in the export of American manufacturing jobs and the Walmartization of America and the middle class didn’t have a chance to keep up. Trades are going through the roof now. So many jobs are AI proof for some time. The university system needs some significant changes…not out of spite, but what they are currently doing in many departments is to a large degree irrelevant to the future.

The Denver mayor has been an outspoken liberal and critic of Trump and anti-ICE. Financial woes are getting worse and the mayor/city council poured gasoline on the fire by buying a building in 2024 and now the major tenant is not paying. Are there any good Dem mayors in America?
