I attended a golf tournament kickoff party in my neighborhood last week. I was introduced to a guy that hung around my wife and I for awhile. I believe it to be because he thought my wife was attractive. I am not the jealous type and my wife is not interest in an 82 year old man. Anyhow, he and his wife are white liberals. His wife despises Texas and christians and refuses to even come into the state. Their main home is in FL and they have a few others. Anyhow, he kept referring to Texan citizens as redneck racists. He was rambling on about how generous he is to others. He was insinuating what a big heart he has for charity. He had been drinking quite a bit by the end of dinner and that is when he truly revealed who he is. He started telling us he has a mission to be generous to the other people that were not capable of creating wealth like he did. When I questioned who he was referring to (as I have a charitable heart for the disabled), he said black people. I was like, what??? I said, "you do realize we had a black president and there are a bunch of wealthy black US citizens??" He just looked at me shocked and said, "you Trumpy people watch too much Fox News". I had to leave at that point. When we hugged the host good bye, he said, " please don't judge us by my brother, he is old and he doesn't realize he is the racist".

It is really easy to disparage ACA. What is your solution? Trump has had 8 years to come up with an alternative and all we hear is crickets.
I am tired of hearing people complain without offering any alternatives.
Increase funding for Medicare and Medicaid for the Americans that need it most. Cover Americans that are uninsurable. Don't require insurance companies to cover the uninsurable, because they can no longer assess risk, and have to charge high premiums on everyone.
Continue cutting down illegal immigration which will lower the services that hospitals need to bill the govt. Don't incentivize people to come here, use our hospitals to have babies, and never pay a dime for the services.
Put pressure on companies like Pfizer to lower the cost of their treatments.
ACA obviously drove companies to charge higher premiums. They were no longer able to do what insurance companies do, assess risk, and price coverage according to that risk.

This is interesting. Bari Weiss was run out of the New York Times a few years ago (2020) by the left wing. At the time I thought it sad because she sounded like someone who actually supported journalism in the cesspool that was/is the NYT.
A few years later she is now the head of CBS News, with new ownership from Larry Ellison supporting her call for fairness to both sides and journalism. I think NBC is trying to move this way by jettisoning MSNBC, but not sure there really is any commitment to actual journalism.
I hope Bari succeeds, she sounds like a sincere and competent person. More liberal than me but the MSM has been so bad for so long she can only make things better.

The Cadillac tax was supposed to take effect in 2018. That was delayed until 2020, and then until 2022. But in 2019, it was repealed altogether.

I get it if the individual has pre-existing conditions, but that is not always the case. If you are an individual you are in a group that includes risky individuals that they can identify and so you are screwed. Obama care embraced this insurance risk because they wanted to reduce costs for pre-existing conditions. OK, but not fair to the individuals who were healthy.
Bottom line, our health costs are the highest in the world and we need Doge.
