Which one of them is playing at the highest level above their true enrollment class level?

IC would be very competitive vs the field when it comes to the bigger classes, but you gotta go with Loyola as the top team.

It’s to early to tell right now how quality their wins are, you won’t know until about week 5 or 6 when there is bigger body of work to look at.

Cannot compare IC and LA. Enrollment variance too large. Pound for pound IC is the best. Straight up LA is better.

Most impressive could be Naz. A lot of football to be played this year and maybe Naz could be the best team in all of Illinois. There is not even a close second as who has been the best private school in the past decade.

I think it could be closer than you believe. The past decade being 2008-2018. While Loyola has had a great run the past 6 years, there have been some other private schools with great runs. Montini and Naz have been very successful.
MC has 2 state titles, a 2nd place and 2 other semifinal appearances in the past decade. LA has 4 2nd place finishes and 1 state title. Naz fans and Montini fans could probably give us more accurate stats on their programs. As could other schools. LA has been great, but I don’t think they’ve been the most successful private school over the past decade by that much of a margin.

Huge Naz guy, big time bias here. That said, Loyola is the best private program in Illinois right now. Hopefully others agree with Naz and hopefully others will hold Naz in that light in a few year but as of now it’s the Ramblers. As far as who the best private team is this year, well I won’t touch that one...

After that win tonight Naz might have a claim to this year. Not disagreeing with LA being the best private school program right now or even over the past decade. LA has been great but to say no ones even close to them in the past decade is a bit much.

Can't overlook MC. They are now considered (win over Loyola, blew out DeLaSalle real quick)

IC still undefeated but the close game against Bishop Mac hurts a bit.

With Loyola losing now twice and LZ losing again, I have to ask this same question again. What are your thoughts?

Top 10 - Week 4
1) Nazareth Academy
2) Brother Rice
3) Mount Carmel
4) Marist
5) Loyola Academy
6) Notre Dame (Niles)
7) Montini Catholic
8) Providence Catholic
9) Benet Academy
10) IC Catholic Prep

Not me - I’m going with Brother Rice (for now) and Naz number 2 and that is for this season only! I’m not taking “program” rankings.

And that is private schools per the thread. LWE still top dog until someone can knock them off.

Private:
1 BR
2 Naz
3 Marist
4 MC
5 LA
6 Montini

Public:
1 LWE
2 HF
3 Stevie
4 Evanston
5 Batavia
6 Cary Grove
7 Maine South

Voodoos VSR (Voodoo Side Rankings) combined top 10:
1 LWE
2 BR
3 HF
4 Naz
5 stevie
6 Marist
7 Evanston
8 Batavia
9. Cary Grove
10 Maine South.

I wanted to put MC in the top 10 - but they lost to Swagger.

I put Swagger in the top 10 over MC and LA even though they lost to Barrington, who then turned around and had a let down in the Evanston game. Hence Evanston ahead of Swagger.

Batavia hasn’t beaten anyone of note - but they defending 7A champs, undefeated, and have earned a pass with the light schedule (at least with me and for now. Big game with WWS up next)

Cary with a huge win vs Huntley (and convincing win)... and If they beat both PR and NC?.... clear favorite and top dog in 6A and in the mix for top 5 in the state?

Lurking just outside top 10:
* MC
* LA (dropping fast though. Getting beat in a competitive game is one thing,..Taking a 35-3 loss is quite another in terms of interviewing for the top 10.
* Montini.

Caravan 8: State titles separate us from the pack, period. Not bragging, just bringing a splash of reality to the conversation.

No Flyer love? ESL not in the state’s top 10 or even top 10 public school in the state?

Speaking of this years football season, it is a toss up for me between BR and Nazareth. With past football glory in mind, I like MC, Rita, Loyola, JC and Montini.

Damn it!!! Can I change this to Chicagoland top 10? ;)

This is frikkin a lot harder that it looks from the peanut gallery!!

From state wide ESL has to be in the top 10.

Edit - I think I would put East Side at #7 right above Evanston. Swagger drops out of top 10 (for now).

I still don’t understand all this Montini love. Who have the played? (Black) and Blue games await the Broncos!

I'm a die hard Broncos fan and I don't get it either.

We have not played anybody yet and we do have a big issue on the offensive sIde of the ball that needs to be corrected, we never won on the road all last year, have not played on the road this year and this is our 1st year in the prestigious blue.

In addition we have never given Loyola or Provi a close game except back in 82 against Provi when we had a stud Westerkamp on our team.

So I would say yes we still don't know anything about the Broncos yet.

I get it. I've been telling two Montini fans for months Montini will go 7-2. And for this in Montini's first year in the Blue, that's pretty good especially because they are a 5A school going up against 7A and 8A schools.
