Marcello tweeted after the game that Mullen's explanation was that we "played a lot of nickel" and was therefore not needed. Obviously not a valid reason.
He definitely got a few snaps...
I think we sandbagged everything for Auburn on the defensive side...
Notice how lost our DB's looked in that soft zone? IMO it's because we weren't comfortable in it, meaning we hadn't practiced it much. Auburn going to spend all week studying how to exploit that coverage and we are going to come out in full man coverage and confuse them for a half, IMO....

Cherrington played, but not much. And yes, we were EXTREMELY vanilla last night. I know that's probably going to be the overused comment of the week, but it's so true. We ran one series of 3-4 and few in the nickel, but we played the vast majority in a base 4-3. Didn't disguise much, just played a general cover 2 with the safeties and let them pass underneath between the 35s. And that's exactly what we should've done. Don't put anything worth a damn on film for Auburn to use as prep for this week.
