If you listen to Hurley's comments - he is not arguing that it wasnt over the back.
THREE times he mentioned making that call "at that point in the game" (meaning tied game, less than a minute to go, in OT). he says it three times.
another time he questions why it was called "the way that game was going" which I take to mean either: again, when it happened in the game and/or based on how the rest of the game was called (I didnt watch but maybe the refs had let a lot of other calls go?)
but in the presser - he never once actually says it wasnt a foul.
to me, thats a no brainer OTB. he goes OTB - shoves the defender away from the ball - the act of fouling give him the positional advantage. its a foul.
but maybe Hurley has a point based on the reasons he stated (maybe refs should swallow the whistle considering the point in the game AND particularly if they had let similar physical play go through the course of the game). refs being inconsistent drives everyone nuts.
still, doesnt mean he isnt a horses ***.
