Dabo without a generational QB

Seriously, though, the outrage against Dabo is, to me, just ridiculous. Clemson fans were absolutely clamoring to be elite ever since their title in 1981. They always felt they were better than their current status in the game. They never could achieve it until Dabo came along and had them at/near the pinnacle of the football world for 7 straight years. They made it to 6 CFP in a row, played for 4 titles in 5 years, winning 2 of them. He accomplished more in that time frame than all but a small handful of college coaches in the history of the game. Now they have a "down" year last year, and a rough start to this year and all the talk is "he's done". I can't stand the entitled attitude. Dabo came along and gave the Clemson fans the relevance and elite status for which they had been craving for 30+ years. After 1 season and 1 game, they think he's done and they can do better? Just absurd. And, yes, he was successful with great QBs. Find me a coach who won multiple titles without elite players. They don't exist. Every coach who wins titles has great players.

Success does that. It's happened to a smaller degree here as well. HBC went on that 4 year run and now all of a sudden 7 wins isn't good enough. Higher expectations aren't a bad thing, so I don't think it's ridiculous at all. Dude is making $11M/yr. He deserves all the scrutiny he gets. It's not that they're not winning NCs. It's that they don't look like they belong anymore. Had they made the playoffs last year, the Duke game would be easier to take. But this will be year three of them not competing for NCs. And when you do that along with the questionable hires you've made, you're in the crosshairs.
