Hate that Wes Goodwin had to go down as one of the fall guys the year before last. He certainly was not the issue.
Should've been gone once he deemed the transfer portal not a viable way to get players in 2026. Not that I like the portal the way it is but dammit you're making millions per year just adapt. He's a dubmass.
Clemson is using the portal, but he is trying to make it as a developmental program. Iowa does that very well. you bring in a few guys to address weak spots or depth but you don’t bring in 40-50 guys to wholesale turnover your roster. South Carolina may not have the in state talent to pull that off, Iowa does. It’s also culture And a great coaching staff that’s needed.
Okay Clemson brought in 11 transfers but lost like 17. Those numbers work out for most. NOT! He doesn't wanna believe the game has changed just like our big boosters didn't think the game had changed when newton was on the board and that would've sealed us at least an sec championship if not a national championship. We took the barn to the wire that year.

Really, well four teams have won 8+ every year over the past decade : Georgia, Bama, Ohio State And Iowa.
One of those programs is in a state of only 3 million and has a lot less money than the other three. So maybe theres something to respect about how Ferentz goes about things
I've worked with and for a few ex Iowa players coached by Forentz. They were all high quality individuals and spoke glowingly about Forentz and his leadership style.
I respect and root for any program that does things the old fashioned way with culture, player development, and hard work. what Iowa does with that O line, and mostly in state kids is freaking amazing. They won the Joe Moore award last year, lost three guys to the nfl and this years O line looks better-none of the replacements from the portal. And their freshman coming in are monsters. Just reload.

Jesus Christ dude. Iowa (the state) has 20 players in the NFL right now….as in players who were born in and/or went to HS in Iowa. They have 3.2 million people. That’s 1 NFL player per 160,000 residents, not 12.5 per 100,000 residents.
If they actually had 12.5 per 100,000….they’d have literally 400 NFL players right 17ing now…..nearly 25% of the league would be from Iowa.
I’m not even going to get into SC….your math and figures are so 17ing bad on the above that it’s not even worth it.
Lol. Ever heard of Iowa State? Aka….the largest undergrad enrollment school in the state, school with much lower admission standards than its B1G counterpart, and also a P4 school?
LSU, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin….those are states with an in-state monopoly on talent.
Iowa is not one of those states. They are nearly identical to Mississippi in terms of population and number of P4 schools supported by that population.

This is probably the correct take. Clemson has felt "down" the last couple of years, but they keep winning 9 or 10 games a season. They won't be legit championship contenders, but even in this era, it would probably be program suicide to fire a coach with Dabo's winning percentage.
this.......I think Clemson still wins alot of games, and has a solid record, just can't compete w/ the "Elites" (those that work the portal and NIL as a high performing corporation)....... As long as record reasonably good, DABO allowed to exit on his terms.....that said, I also think that Dabo has failed in his responsibilities as a coach with that pay level, in adapting to the current landscape, and I kinda expect that somehow, Clemson will force his hand to an extent

Dabo either makes adjustments or this is the end of the line when they force his retirement because a program that has strong bones like we think Clemson had a very hard time hiring a new president for the university. They went all in thinking the Tuscaloosa and University of Alabama growth would come for them at the same level but that didn't happen to the extent they went in for. Reason being is the patch on their jersey says ACC on it instead of SEC. Florida State and Clemson are miserable being where they are at with how that conference looks.

I think the long term future for Clemson is a 2nd tier conference. They had a great decade with Dabo but I don’t think that’s coming back for them. FSU is a big enough national draw they’ll eventually get back to being a contender & probsbly get a sec or big 10 bid in the next 5-10 years.
Dabo also gets perhaps a bit more credit than he deserves….due to getting not one, but two generational QB talents in Watson and Lawrence nearly back-to-back. There’s some luck involved there.
Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Georgia, Michigan, and several other schools that recruit way above Clemson’s level historically have all come nowhere close to getting 2 QB’s of that level back-to-back. Alabama when they had Hurts / Tua is really the only comparison, but its not even close to the same deal because they were there at the exact same time and cannibalized each other a bit, and Hurts wasn’t really being maximized at Bama anyway.
