When's the last time State had an EE at QB who could legitametly be a starter by his RS freshmen season? A guy from Louisianawho the MSU staff pulled out even with an LSU offer. Not to mentionhe ran the same offense at State in high school and fits the offense perfectly. If Prescott can be a 4-year starter for Mullen and can be the guy for this team that puts a 8-9 win team on his back and takes thempast the 10 win mark or to Atlantathere will be no way in hell this class will be considered a failure provided there is no heavy attrition and there are other contributors.

Tyler Russell was also considered by many to be the starter no later than his 2nd year. He ran a similar offense, had an offer from Bama, and in impressive fashion ended USP's state title streak. He fell out of favor quickly when he couldn't beat out Relf. Then mini Favre became the next big thing. He may not have height but he has "it". Now all 3 current qb's have been thrown to the side for Dak. Don't get me wrong, I wanted Dak more than any other signee, but let him go through spring and fall before anointing.

isn't being the same as being able to run the spread option like Dak can. That's not to say Dak is a run 1st guy because he is not. The difference between him and Russell is that he can run when he needs to and that fits the offense. I like Tyler as a QB but I'm just not sure how he fits the offense currently at State. His situation reminds me of Brantley at UF in 2010 and that was a disaster.

with him going thru Spring practice, I think he ends up being the back-up this Fall and gets some experience to prepare him for 2012. Then he ends up a 3 year starter

I think he gets the RS this season and starts in 2012. QBs are playing earlier and earlier in CFB and I don't see anything wrong with Dak starting as a RS freshmen. He'll have a very seasoned and talented receiving core in 2012 to help him out.

at running the ball than Russell....he knows alot about the offense...he gets Spring practice to get reps...I fully expect him to be the back-up by September 1st

And he wont redshirt...he will get mop-up duty to get some experience...

you dont bring a HS QB in early to redshirt. If Mullen felt fine about Russell and Farvuh as back-ups and was going to RS Prescott, you just let Prescott enroll this summer and then he redshirts while running the scout team this Fall. Prescott was brought in early to go through Spring practice so that he would be ready to play this Fall as the back-up- and that is exactly what he and his parents were told.

and Farve's 2nd. Prescott will have been here 9 months. To be no. 2, he'll have to be clearly better than the others. That doesn't mean having the most potential of the three. With the team we have coming back, Mullen's not going to put the guy out there to build for the future. We need to win now.

One thing is for sure. If Prescott is no. 2, then we'll have a transfer or two and go from great QB depth to no depth at all.

enrolling early does not gurantee he will not be redshirted this fall either. and that's not to say he won't impress during spring camp. it will just be a tough choice of a.) getting him some PT this year to be ready for 2012 or b.) wanting four, not three years out of him as the starter. as for russell transferring, that is just in his best interest at this point, IMO. whether or not people believe it his lack of running ability is a severe limitation for the offense. selfishly we all want to see great depth at the QB position but very few schools have that, even the elite ones.

Mullen will come out of Spring talking about how all the QB's looked good and he cant wait to see them this Fall....

Then about 2-3 weeks into August, Prescott will take over as the back-up...and we have 4 QB's this Fall, plus a walk-on

If the first guy off the bench is Prescott, then somebody is leaving after the season. If it is clear that he's no. 2 in august, then somebody leaves then to save eligibility. So I'm saying one of the others is the second guy. That's the smart play. Now, if Relph gets hurt and Prescott gives us the best chance to win, then so be it. As for mop-up duty, that needs to go to somebody else.

I think he will see the writing on the wall this Spring, and realize if he is going to transfer, it has to be before this Fall

If I'm Russell, I go juco next season and then get 2 years at a school that better fits my talent
