Did this game help or hurt his heisman bid? He definitely had his come from behind drive moment and made some big plays. Will the turnovers hurt him? I personally think it all rides on Bama game. If he shines that game, the trophy is his. I don't think the UT Martin game will matter. He can sit and rest or get some stat builders. Don't care either way.

Some of the talking heads this morning are saying it hurt him possibly putting him and Mariota neck and neck.

Heisman also looks for intangibles as well as stats. Today's game hepped in that Dak made some great highlight plays (his pass to Josh Robinson, his TD pass, his runs for first down), and he willed his team to victory.

Without Dak, we lose the LSU, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Arkanss easy. With him, we're Nationl Championship contenders.

Beat Bama and he gets the trophy...play a close competitive game where Dak really shines it`s in the voters hands...get the crap beat out of us and Mariota probably wins

He had a great game for being as hurt as he was. Watch the JRob pass play again and notice how Dak runs down the field after. It was clear he was favoring one leg.

The Heisman, like everything else, hangs on Dak beating Bama. That game looms huge for us.

I totally agree about stats not nattering as much as those quote heisman moments. If we beat Bama no way he doesn't have a few. Wow this game is huge for us!

If he cleans his play up down the stretch, this game's narrative will be about his playing through injury and strong finish to secure the win. Talking heads will make that the story unless INTs keep happening, then they become the story.

In-thread querstion...how many games have we won this year that if we swapped QB`s with our opponent....they would have won. I doubt that Heisman voters will look from that angle but I think it`s an interesting angle. I think Dak`s been THE difference in at least 3 games.

DAK is injured, 70 percent, can't run.

And he still found a way to win. I think that adds to the resume.

Anybody consider the fact that Oregon and Mariota still have to navigate through @ Utah and @ O State on the regular schedule, as well as a possible Pac12 CG. All are going to be opponents who are quite capable of putting a knock on Mariota's/Oregon's heads. A lot of football yet to be played both down south and out west.

Will he get better this year or is it like a high ankle injury that just takes a very long time to heal ?

Pretty much... and as good of a player as Mariotta is, why do I have this weird feeling that Oregon probably has two guys on the bench that they could sub in without missing a beat?

my take, first and possibly most importantly, we won the game. also, dak was visibly hobbled and made a couple of terrible passes that cost us, that said, he had a career passing day and made a "heisman" highlight play when he was under severe duress. juxtaposed with mariota's performance, i think is reasonable that he lost some ground, but its still his to lose and i think he is the current frontrunner. a gimpy prescott with a career day despite the two int's leading his team to the win.
