He is calling out CBS b/c they said that "Dak's dad wasn't a factor in his life" and that "Dak was raised by a single mother"
Said he wants it corrected. Pretty bizarre

Just heard that

The father claims Dak was never interviewed by CBS...they were trying to figure out how Gary and Verne got the info that Dak was raised completely by a single mother and had no father in the picture.

that was bizarre.

CBS isn't the first that has said that. however, on my memory, I do think when I have previously heard the story, it has been said that Dak's mom took a stand that she wasn't going to put up with things and take a stand for the good of the family/kids.

Like I said in the other thread about this

Nothing against the guys who posted it, but these two threads need to go away - nothing good to come from them.

It's none of our business even he is the one who called into the show.

Dak will set the record straight if he wants us to know.

As someone who grew up without knowing my dad (because his sorry *** ran off when mom told him she was pregnant) I know the struggle that goes on inside a young mans mind. I hope for Dak's sake his dad was a part of his life. But either way it's absolutely no one's business but Dak and his dad's. This is disgraceful. Whoever reported this should be fired and rot in hell. I hope Dak blows this off as well as everyone else.

Edit to add: WAS estranged and IS CURRENTLY estranged are 2 different things. Maybe he took offense to CBS saying that he was still out of the picture.

I know he was in the stands at LSU with Dak's brother. And he has been at EVERY home game. I have seen him in pics with BookFace friends. Doesn't seem like he is trying to steal any limelight.

So something that is being discussed in the media and is about MSU's most important player needs to be locked?

Nothing mean, hurtful, disrespectful, etc has been posted.

This is a personal thing between Dak and his father and nobody on this board has any cause to speculate, debate, or otherwise form conjecture around Dak's relationship with his father and any attempt to is going to come out badly.

"Nothing good can come of it" is the most appropriate description I've seen.

His father called in and spoke to Paul Finebaum. Duly noted and that should be the end of it. If Dak wants to open up about it, he's the current face of the program and I'm sure will have plenty of opportunity.

From my recollection, a good article (cant remember the source) written earlier this year pointed out Dak's Dad (very importantly) reformed his relationship with Dak's mother when she got ill and took care of her through it all. Thus, he's been around significantly for some time, and there for everyone during a very difficult period.

I'd imagine that's why it's important to him. He's been a big part of their family dynamic through some very difficult times. The article also pointed out that Dak's mother and father were always close, although separate for some time. Given each of their family members have spoken about it, I don't think they're overly sensitive about their history. Seems, to the contrary, they're comfortable with openly discussing how they feel. When a reporting crew is lazy and doesn't get it right, given all they've been through, he should be upset.

Fortunately, CBS can amend their perspective in front of a national audience this weekend.

Believe it was on the GameDay segment on Dak but one of interviews, he mentioned that it was his dad who told him of his mothers passing

i dont know about all that, but EARLY in the season, dak's dad was shown in the stands getting quite emotional very early in the game against lsu. he looked like a proud father and that image has been one of the more powerful ones that i have seen this season. i lean towards the belief that we shouldnt speculate, but it is certainly interesting.

His father has spoken about being involved with his mom's care. Dak has spoken about his dad. Sure, this should be a private family matter, but when the issue is written about, and quoted, in a huge story with a major media outlet- it becomes more than just a private family matter.

Once again- nothing in this thread has been inappropriate. Everyone has posted with respect, or at least with temperance.

It isn't a matter of if anything good can come from talking about it- its news about MSU. Its a current event about MSU's most important player. Its what message boards like this are used for- to discuss and disseminate MSU related news and info.
