Dak's injury

Hate to bring it up but I've been worried about Dak's health. We all know something is up but does anyone have an educated guess as to what is injured, how bad, prognosis, etc.? Obviously a "slowed" Dak is better than most but it's clear we're dominant when he's healthy (LSU, Auburn). Any thoughts?

Yeah I agree it's weird how there is almost a concerted effort to pretend there is no injury. It's one thing to keep that stuff to the vest right before game time if you know the other team is keying on certain players, but this is different. He's cleary our QB and I do not see an issue with just saying he tweaked ___ and should be fine for ____ or whatever. The total denial thing is unnerving.

no discussion of injuries unless it involves om players who save homeless orphans and blind kittens in their spare time

Mainly just concerned. I know the team's policy ... and don't get me wrong, the boot humor used in media interviews is great. But I'm curious if anyone actually knows the severity. I wonder if this is something that can heal in-season or if he'll have to play through it for the rest of the year. I think the answer to that question could mean a lot in terms of our success from here on out.

I think it's pretty obvious he has a sprained ankle. Didn't seem to affect him much other than when he tweaked it in the first quarter.

Hopefully he'll have a light load for the UT Martin game and will be 100% for Bama. It's obvious the ankle is bothering him to the point that he has developed Tyler Russell syndrome in the pocket and stands flat footed. It cost him on one pick and one sack I know for sure.

I watched him and thought part of it in the first qtr. may have been a too tightly taped ankle error on the trainer's part. It seemed to loosen up some as time went by and he seemed better - not ok, but better

I don't think they are pretending, I think they think it is funny people are so interested because this is just the norm in SEC football. Everyone gets banged up and everyone plays through the pain. There is a different between hurt and injured, Dak is hurt. Hopefully we can get him some rest these next two weeks.

After watching him last night and end of Kentucky game an injured Dak still looks pretty damn impressive.

That's what I was thinking. It's probably just a mild sprain. As long as nothing is torn, there is no harm in playing on it... it just hurts like hell. Players play through that kind of pain all the time.

The touchdown run against KY

With 11:54 in the 3rd. He takes a pretty hard hit on the left thigh and spins around on his right ankle. Probably tweaked it on that play along with a pretty nice sized bruise on his thigh.

It looks more like a heel injury to me and if so, he'll have it the rest of the year.
Side note: Lewis' injury looks like a high ankle sprain and they take longer to get over.

Honestly he is so heavily taped it is difficult to run. I think they are trying

to make sure the injury doesn't get worse and in doing so they are slowing him down some
as a trade off.

Couldn't agree more. Based on the way he plays, Dak is always going to be banged up. Fortunately, he's a beast and will continue to play through it. There has been talk of an injury since before the USM game and he's had some pretty damn good games since "the injury."

I hope we sit him against UT-Martin. At most, we should play him for a series or two.

i think it is turf toe. He isnt walking on it like it is hurt at the ankle, it looks more like a sharp pain shooting up by the way he hops around. Then again, im no doctor

So, if I am correct, in this thread, a bunch of non doctors (and seemingly people that haven't had much in the way of sports injuries) have looked at film and think that Dak has a right ankle sprain, a left thigh bruise, a heel injury, turf toe, is taped too tightly by an inept sports training staff, and was injured last year in the Egg Bowl so it shouldn't be too big of a deal this year...

Damn, y'all. This is bordering on TSUN type of absurdity. I understand we feel the need to talk about everything but damn. His injury could be a damn myriad of things. And you certainly aren't going to figure it out by watching film.

I agree with both of you about hurt/injured, but unfortunately, Prescott missed games last year due to injury, and his play was well below his typical level Saturday, 99% due to injury. It's a valid concern. Prescott is our whole team when we start talking about winning SEC and national titles, so he must be a punishing runner to make it work. If you want to go 10-2 and play in a good bowl, sure, who cares if Prescott is banged up.

I'm thinking of another scenario. Remember the bluff on the field goal at Florida (6 years ago). Where everyone thought Dan was going to call a TO to try to "ice " the kicker?

What if Dak (with Dan's insight) is playing up the "injury" to get more publicity and a get in the Bamers head before this game next week.

When did he limp the most last week? On way back to catch up with rest of team after a run or pass play that had positive yardage. Why then; because, he had time to think about and perform the hobble.

I have thought of this as well. When Prescott runs on a play he doesn't limp but when he is running off field, or in Saturday's example, to the endzone to congratulate Ross he is visibly limping. It's not completely out of Mullen's nature to think Prescott is playing it up for the cameras. Worked last year against Ole Miss. OM didn't spend one minute planning to contain him.

He was limping Saturday night after getting hit right after a long completion. But later on the sideline he was walking normally, with no limp. I think he's almost well, and if he can truly sit out most of the UT-M game he should. But remember "the Maine".

There are a lot more people out there that have never done anything athletic with a sprain than I thought. My favorite so far is how come when Dak runs on a play he doesn't limp but when he jogs he does.

I played football and baseball in HS(I know I know) and played through sprains many times. I limped the whole time. Even with a lot of tape.
