Why would anyone do this? I can understand being frustrated and angry, I can understand protesting, but what did these men hope to prove by killing these officers?

Sounds like 2 guys with rifles in building windows executed a premeditated assault. So, not, I'm not retarded. This was a peaceful event that a couple of murderous ******** exploited for a slaughter.
Whatever the perps were trying to prove they are gonna accomplish the exact opposite. This will galvanize police support even in many communities where it may not be at its highest point. I am an optimist I guess but I think that many people realize the race baiting that is going on here with the BLM movement. They will not stand for cold blooded murder of police. They shouldn't.

Why don't people ever wonder why the media picks and chooses the cases they do to make into national stories? Murders every day of all races and they choose to only focus on the same things every time. Why is that? To paint a picture.
They don't create a racial narrative when it's a black attacker and white victim. They don't care when blacks kill each other. They don't care when cops kill whites. They have no interest in anything that paints whites as victims unless they're gay.
They don't want to show anything that would make them realize the truth. Hell, crime is down but no one knows that because it's all the media talks about.

Local CBS here just interviewed the brother of the suspect. Says he didn't have anything to do with it and he gave his gun to an officer when the shooting started. Can't get ahold of him and doesn't know where he is though. CBS reporter saw him with his brother that was being interviewed earlier.
I have hope. The thing with the internet is it's the huge sea change in the way we communicate as humans, and it's not surprising we've struggled with it for a few decades now. I think it will get better. Standards for kids are changing in school now. There is a much, much heavier emphasis on being able to communicate your viewpoint effectively, collaborate or debate with others and then fortify your position.
It will get better, if we don't end the world before it does.

The man in the picture was in harm's way on the ground when shooting first started. Just didn't fit to begin with.
