Not sure why he won't come to Mississippi... Not enough $$ upfront...
I know when I lived in New Orleans he would not play there because he said the city was too dirty.

...of course that's not to stop them from cashing in on upfront money for events abroad. The Euro tour offers upfront money to American PGA tour players. John Daly has said he loves the European Tour, but if he ever became a fulltime European tour player he'd lose his chance at upfront cash.

For the most part, the Viking Classic has a pretty ****** field. You aren't going to find Woods playing these events. It would be nice for the tournaments if he would make an appearance every so often and play events like this one but it won't happen.

It seems like the PGA tour could require that a full-time tour player play every event every so many years. Or, at least stratify the tournaments into levels, (A,B, and C) and set a quota of tournaments the player has to play at each level over a 3 year period - something like that. I don't see how it wouldn't be in the Tour's best interest in getting premier players at every event every year. What would be the downside of a plan like that?

you have half of the tournaments going belly up or not being profitable and losing sponsorship and what not. The solution. REQUIRED ATTENDANCE. You get the big name guys to come to all the places and ticket sales boom.

Truthfully I've never understood why golf doesnt just release a schedule and everyone goes barring injury
