Per Gator Bowl staff:

"Unfortunately we do not plan on releasing a DVD of the game. The game is archived on www.espn3.com, so you may check there to see if it's purchasable.

I've got the game saved on my HD DRR. Does anyone have a BluRay burner?

The thought just crossed my mind to buy a DVD burner and blank DVDs then charge $20 per copy. If I sold 1,000 and netted $15 for each DVD, then thats.....hold on.... carry the one.....$15,000.

Maybe they think that the potential buyers already have the game recorded on their DVRs. I'd fall in that category.

Would that even be 10% of the fine you'd have to pay if ESPN found out you were selling copies of their broadcast?

I'm on my 4th DVR from DirecTV in about 6 years. I've had horrible luck with them crashing. I hate to lose an HD saved version of the game. I'd like to be able to copy it to a Bluray so that I'll have an HD version saved on a disk so I don't lose it when this DVR crashes.

I can record it to a DVD. However, it won't be in HD nor will it be the best quality recording because my DVD burner is old an only has Coax and S-video inputs. Crappy quality compared to today's HDMI standards. So, if anyone in the Starkville area has a Bluray burner, I can provide the HD recording off of the DVR.

The Gator Bowl will be rebroadcast in high def, but the win in Oxford is gone forever. Doesn't really matter, we'll get the next one too.

P.S. The new DirecTV HR24 DVR/Receiverand "whole home" serviceis awesome. I did have one HR20 in one room but now havean HR24 in 3 differentrooms, essentially multiplying my previousDVR space by six times (HR24 has about twice the space as the HR20).Anything recorded on one DVR can be seen on the others (or each DVR can be 'blocked' from being seen by the others), plus I can now record more than two shows at a time.

are two separate animals. If you're going to print and distribute DVDs of something, even if you've already broadcast it on TV, everything in the product from production music on down requires another complete set of rights and payments to those involved. It's a colossal pain in the *** if you don't 1) already own 100% of the content or 2) expect to sell a double ****-load of the DVDs. If ESPN learns you're selling DVDs, they're required by their own contracts to come after you. Otherwise, they're complicit.

This is one area where the philosophy of ask forgiveness not permission can put you under the jail.
