If you go to their athletic site (msubobcats.com), you'll find a profile of a Bobcat, a script "Cats", and a large M similar to Ole Miss. I've not seen an interlocking MSU on their page anywhere.

So, basically, they have worse brand recognition than we do.

the same as an ATV company or something?

And how about this one, it's like a late 90's State hat <17>ed a Saints hat.

Of all the many ways he screwed us over the years, none piss me off more than getting rid of the logo we'd had for 30 years (in various very similar forms). The new football helmets are OK, but they'd look a hell of a lot better with the real MSU football logo.

I had a intern from there last year that played baseball there. He always wore a camo color ball cap and his baseball cap both of them had the same logo as our old one. Damn copycats

and I'd encourage all the rest of you MFers to do the same. Hell I'm ordering 2, and sending one to that hairlipped piece of **** with a note attached that says "Kiss my ***."

I'll wear one around and if anybody asks me why there's a f'n tomcat on my hat I'll tell them it's my Larry Templeton emblem - the "*****."

This made me laugh out loud as hard as I did during the Derek Dunn thread when it was originally on sixpack.

Would it really be THAT bad to get a Nike contract? They did produce our best looking uniforms to date. And it's not like it's Russell Athletic. I like the Adidas stuff that we have now. BUT I think it would look even better with an intelocking MSU logo.

It seems like a majority of our fans want it back. Having the M-State logo has done nothing to ease confusion between us and Ole Miss or Michigan State, or now Montana State.

Nike does hold the rights to that particular interlocking MSU logo, thanks to Larry Templeton, but they don't have any rights to the concept of an interlocking MSU logo. The fact is, we still hold the rights to the logo we used during the Felker years. And there's nothing to stop us from developing a new interlocking MSU logo. I'd be fine with going back to Nike and using the logo from the Sherrill years, but I'd also be fine with developing a new one that is kind of a combination between that one and the one we used in the Bellard years.

Just bring it back in some form or fashion. The 1980 uniform is one of my favorites as well.

the original Mstate is owned by the Mississippi State University Corporation, who I think holds all our marks.

I cannot find the interlocking MSU that allegedly belongs to NIKE anywhere on there.

There is no such corporation listed with the Mississippi Secretary of State. No such corporation is listed with the Delaware Sec of State.

If you google it, you get nothing.

Any chance the USPTO reference is incorrect?

works in the MS Attorney General's Office Division of Intellectual Property. If he filed the patent, I think it's pretty safe to say that MSU holds the patent. He wouldn't be filing a patent for a private company or individual.

that are affiliated with the university actually is the "owner" of the mark. I'm curious because the USPTO references a corporate name that is not registered as a Mississippi corporation. "Mississippi State University Corporation" could be registered in another state. Or it could be that the USPTO's owner record is in error. Just don't know.

But I'm curious to find out if possible.
