A lot to break down here, there’s only one Curt Cignetti, to assume that every coach out there can run a program like he does is pretty obtuse. It also makes it much easier when your QB won the Heisman and is projected to go 1:1. To tack on, Mark Cuban getting involved in IU athletics and their ascension to the top is very coincidental.

Coaching 100% matters, but to think that players don’t is just making excuses.

Someone needs to do a comparison chart on age. The AVERAGE age of players on Indiana's roster is 23. Their entire starting offense is RS Jrs and Srs, and some 6 year players.

Coaching is huge. Assembling players who buy into your team and system is huge. Having more mature and experienced athletes than your competition is...I dont know...really helpful.

There is a very good article in Friday's Wall Street Journal about Cignetti...he recruits based on hip, knee and ankle mobility, packs on 15-20 pounds of muscle, and then coaches them up (watch them block and tackle).

Do you think that the 3 star roster commanded higher rates just bc they have a Mark Cuban? They have a roster full of 3 stars - they probably paid the 3 star rates.
You are using hs recruiting rankings man. Come on you can’t be that dense. Word is they spent plenty.

Yes, Cignetti is special or whatever but takeaway should be that MSU can afford a roster that can be competitive with the right system and coaching.
Yep all these people saying evaluation and development don't matter don't know ****. We keep getting told need more money and more talent. No, that's bs. We need a coach that can actually accurately eventuate and develop that talent to get a 3 star to play like a 5. We had a couple like that. One went to "greener" pastures and the other died. Need to find another or see if the former wants to come back. Arnett understands how to get more with less at least on defense but just didn't understand how to run a program or offense. Lebby doesn't understand Building a program, eval, or development

Yeah, can't go by rating stars. I'm sure they paid that 2 star quarterback 4 million dollars coming out of high school cause he is a great talent evaluator and could see potential

I think Lebby can evaluate qb and wr bit doesn't seem like other positions as well. Seems he brought more staff in to help the guys he does have. Hopefully that pays off this year. We will see.
