Could not disagree more . He was a decent ball player for a very tough HOF coach at IU and then became a coach at a D1 school . But he is a better and more entertaining announcer than anything else he has done. And moreover no one treats us more fairly. I really look forward to the games he calls !

I like Dakich as good as anyone. But then again I also like Bill Walton. lol. I really wish Jay Williams would do a game. He seems to know more about the game than everyone else. He’s fair, doesn’t play favorites, & calls it like he sees it as well.
Did you hear when Dakich said that IU was bad at honoring their past, and UK was the best he has ever seen?
I was impressed by DD when he really praised UK for recognizing the past (1978 team) and then ripped on IU for doing nothing to recognize their past success!
He was great tonight. Very complimentary of fans, team, and Cal.Love him or hate him but I'll take him over Dick Vitale or Jay Bilas all day every day. Anyway...
I like him myself. He talks out his tail a lot but doesn't care because he's trying NOT to be the polished color guy but instead just wants to call the game like he's watching it with you at a bar, non politically correct and not afraid to throw stuff out there. Knows his game stuff though.

I seriously doubt that Billy Packer and “wicked smart about basketball” have ever occupied the same sentence. I respect your opinion, but Billy Packer was a textbook blowhard with a very large side of a-hole. I will say this, Billy Packer was loved and adored..............by Billy Packer.
I love him calling the game. Knows the game well and does not go off chasing other story's.
During this game said that ky team that went 39-0 and loss in the championship and that guy Andrew Harrison with all those buzzer beaters LOL. Does this guy watch college basketball. For God's sake he is a basketball analyst. He's ok, but he didn't know who Farely was last week or that he was dead, but ok. How many wrong statements does he make per game I wonder.

You hate to say that about a kid, but he is about himself. He gets the ball, it doesn’t come out. He doesn’t play defense. He’s a terrific talent, don’t get me wrong. But you can see real clear, real fast, and I’ll take all the shots that people want to give me, but you can see he is about him.”
Apparently it got back to Bagley:

Dan Dakich is great on the call. It's when he's rolling Billy Joe Wildcat on Twitter than fans get their panties in a wad... or when he says UK sucks when they suck. Calls it how he sees it. The way it should be.
Nah, I don’t think so. But he does know how to get a rise out of folks. Very high level troll. I dig it.

The only reason you don't like him is because he doesn't have his nose stuck up coach K and Dukes *** like most other announcers . Admit it , you're pissed off about his Bagley comments . I still don't understand why you post here .

Billy Packer was such a ACC homer he couldn't objectively announce any other games, at least Dakich can.
He does a good job of telling it like it is, if we stink he will say it, same thing Cawood would do, but he was one of ours and so it was ok. I think if Dakich had not have played at Indiana most Kentucky fans would like him. As far as knowledge of the game and calling it, he is pretty good because he sez a lot of things we are thinking but can't say.
He's goofy as hell, but makes humdrum games a bit more watchable. I'll take him on a rainy night versus Mississipi St, but I DO NOT want him in the Elite 8 versus UNC, for example.
