How in the world would it effect public education in metro jackson??? Davis is a good coach, got forced out by an over-zealous group of parents who are forcing out the baseball coach too.

Davis was an awful coach. He took over one of the state's most consistent programs and ran it into the ground. TheY should have let him go years sooner.

and was shown the door because of it. He would cancel practice to go deer hunting, so he got what he deserved. The baseball coach sucked. He never tried to develop a 8/9 grade squad to get experience and played favorites by keeping low talent friends of his buddies. Both can get lost.

The NWR school district is very good, and I feel like most people in that area that want to send their kids to private schools will still choose Prep or JA.

Also, and I'm trying not to step on toes here, that church has gone from a small local church to a gigantic regional church in about 10 years. I would have to wonder what would happen to the school if/when Pinelake stops being the "cool" church in the Jackson area and attendance/donations drop off.

Done deal as they are putting together a staff. They have teachers and administrators lined up to hit the ground running this July. Hired MRA's high school and middle school principles. I have to assume they'll make an entrance as a single A Academy for athletics.....hell I don't know

Registration for Hartfield is actually going surprisingly well (better than I thought it would). The school has a chance to make it if it does not fall into the Pinelake philosophy of putting a lot of money into administration, buildings and niceties. They need to keep their costs (tuition) significantly below Prep and JA to make it in the long run (and I fear they already have expensive plans).

It will not have any effect on education or athletics in the metro area, other than being another option for parents with school age kids. For this coming school year, Hartfield will compete athletically with public schools.

As long as Chip Henderson remains the primary preacher at Pinelake the church will continue to grow and remain the "cool place to go." Not only is he likely the best preacher in the metro area and in Mississippi, but one of the best in the southeast as well.

Yes for the 2012-2013 school year Hartfield will compete with public schools. The move may only last for one year, beyond that has not been decided.

What? Brandon consistently exited the playoffs in the 1st or 2nd round before Davis, and did the same thing while he was there. Brandon couldn't get past Hattiesburg and Meridian in the late 80s and 90s, and ws nowhere close to getting past Meridian this past decade.

Brandon's problem is that they have never had any consistency at QB. In the 80s and 90s, Bumpas ran the Wing T and passed it 10 times a season. When Davis took over he tried to open up the offense, but it seems like the prototypical Brandon QB was usually 5-9 and 175 pounds. Brandon is less of a player in 6A now than when Davis was run off. Still can't compete with Meridian, and now Northwest Rankin is passing them by.

That's probably what will ultimately happen- I think they will probably end up with a similar enrollment and sports programs after they get established in a few years.

Prep and JA will still get their kids from the Eastover/Leftover/Belhaven/Fondren/Old Canton Rd. areas and then a few from Madison and Rankin Counties.

I think the big difference will be that Prep and JA will still focus on being college prep type schools and Hartfield will probably have more emphasis on Christian education.

That's because Brandon consistently made the playoffs before Davis. Except for when Davis had a tailback named Norwood, he consistently missed the playoffs.

That's absurd. Peterson led Brandon back to the playoffs last season in just his 2nd year. He cleaning up Croom's errr I mean Davis's mess quite nicely.

The school was named that because it's next to the church and it probably thought it would get a good attendance boost if so named. The church allowed them to operate on the grounds but provided no funding. The shcool was in such bad shape financially that it was pretty much about the shutter up. The church bailed it out, which ticked a lot of people off because they aren't giving so somebody can send their kids to private school. The church said it was a one time deal so the kids could finish the year, and they made good on that by helping them merge with UCS.

As for quality of education? They better do something better than now, because the kids that come out of Pinelake Elementary don't know jack.

I went to school with Chip and he is a nice guy and a pretty good preacher, but to each his own.
Evaluating a preacher is a very subjective matter. I prefer more intellectual sermons and less charisma from my pastor.
FYI.. I was raised a Baptist, but now I am a Evangelical Presbyterian.

To each his own, go where you best get your church on. I think the merger will help ALOT with the Rankin Co. parents who want an option that doesn't involve driving up and down Lakeland through that chitty traffic to drop off and pick up kids. And as far as JA and Prep being better at preparing kids for college I call bullchit. I went to a small rural high school in North MS then on to Millsaps. While at Millsaps there were a few Prep and JA people there. They were all dumb as chit....well as far as common sense goes anyway. I'm sure they did well in school but just common sense retarded. It was like they taught them no real world application of their knowledge. To make it sports related one of the played football and we nicknamed him Tyson because he was always getting knocked the eff out on the practice field.

FYI

The three main private schools in Jackson are far superior in preparing students for college to a rural HS in North MS. Saying that, I went to public school in MS.
Common sense doesn't get you a good SAT/ACT score or a high GPA.
