Mr. Barksdale seems to be taking it well.

Some faculty and alumni, including Jim Barksdale, Ole Miss' biggest donor, expressed anger.
"In my opinion, they've made an unforgivable decision," said Barksdale, who has contributed $30 million to Ole Miss over the past 15 years.

Barksdale said UMMC is "in the best financial situation in years. They just signed a huge deal with the Mayo Clinic. The IHL has made a decision they will come to regret. … They got mad at Dan and came up with reasons to get rid of him."
The board's decision has influenced his thinking about giving to Ole Miss, he said.

Those are from the CL report.

The Confederate Bears aren't happy about all the changes. Someone pulled some strings, sucks for Jones.
They are still stuck in the past at TSUN.

Hate it for y'all. (Not trolling.) I have family who work at UMC who have nothing but great things to say about him. Jones was a great representative for the whole state. Plus, his sets a terrible precedent for IHL (and gubernatorial?) meddling with the universities.

I mean, isn't it the IHL that's stuck in the past?

The Confederate Bears aren't happy about all the changes. Someone pulled some strings, sucks for Jones.
They are still stuck in the past at TSUN.
This isn't good for MSU, either. It sends the message that chancellors should do whatever the IHL wants or they'll get canned.

After reading some articles and the comments about this in a few places (yes, I know it's a horrible idea), it seems like the ONLY people who support this have AT BEST a "used to root for the football team" connection to the actual university and just have an axe to grind about the mascot/flag/really weird generalized lost cause issues.
So good job, jerks. Making me feel bad for actual Ole Miss people.
The classic "bad PR news" move of doing it on a Friday afternoon.
And doing this right after he got back to work from recovering from cancer? GTFOOH. Enjoy Pappy O'Daniel's idiot son as your new chancellor.
