I would give anything to have a still screen shot of Mullen's face when Houston got the 5-yard variety penalty when they hit our punter.

He went BALLISTIC! The eyebrows were hilarious. I've never seen him that upset.

I like how he stands up for his team!!!

I'd love to have that face on a t-shirt that said "Don't Mess with Dan The Man"

Ido belive he was that mad.

That was a very questionable call. We got hit for a 15 yarder /automatic first down penalaty when we were blocked into their punter, they do practially the same thing and only get a 5 yard penalty.

If he keeps having outbursts like that on television, people are gonna start thinking he's Les Miles' little brother.......the Mad Visor.

It is not like he is arguing with the ref while the game clock is ticking away. He is simply showing that he has passion and fire that translates to the players. State fans are just not used to a head coach being able to make it to mid field before losing their breath.

That may have been the maddest I've ever seen anyone. He was way more upset in the Houston game than he was at the Georgia game to me. I thought he was going to have a heart attack on the field, or at least get ejected for hitting the referee. Had our other coaches not stepped in and grabbed him, I'm not sure what he would've done. When it showed him on the sideline afterward, he was shaking bad, and his eyes were very watery. I'm positive I've never been that mad in my life.

but more power to him. Our running into the kicker was a lot worse than theirs.

The penalty against them for 5 yards was actually deserved.
The bad call was the penalty against us. It should have been 5 yards if anything. Our guy was knocked down to the ground, then as the punter came back to the ground, he landed on our player who was already on the ground.

It looked like our player was blocked to the ground and rolled over and the kicker came down right on top of him... 15 yards on that was ridiculous its not like he speared the guy.

He stuck his foot out while coming down so the Houston player hit it. They replayed it several times and you could see his foot kick out. It was legitimate, but without our guy being so heads up we would not have gotten anything.

On the call against us, it did look like our guy was knocked down and the Houston punter came down on top of him. Good bit of acting there also. Should have only been 5.

Looked alot worse than it was.

Remember, we were going to go for it on 4th initially and ended up taking a delay. Dan was giving Chris the business coming off over that. Then, we only get a running into the kicker, which was honestly the right call, on a play similar to what they got 15 yards for earlier. I think those two things back to back really lit him up because he had wanted to put points on the board there at the end of the half and now he saw it as an opportunity wasted.
Course, Broomfield took care of that for us and made it all a moot point.

it's good to see some emotion out of our coach again .... I got so tired of Crooms' stupid stare and Jackies' stupid note taking ... I think it's quite refreshing

Leaving it up to the judgement of the ref to determine if it was ruffing or running into the kickerdon't make sense. He went on to say that it should be a five or a fifteen penalty every time regardless if it is ruffing or running into the kicker. (Paraphrased) They made it that way for the face mask. It is 15 yards regardless if it was incidental or intentional.

was make the incidental facemask no longer a penalty. It still has to be intentional or flagrant for the 15-yard penalty to be called. The old 5-yard penalty is now a legal play.

Face mask is a face mask now regardless if you grab it and let go or not. You grab the face mask it's 15 yards.

Face-Mask Foul (Rule 9-1-2-q). There is no longer a foul if any player grabs an opponent’s face mask without pulling, twisting, or turning it. The five-yard penalty has been eliminated. This change does not change the safety aspect of this rule. Pulling, twisting, or turning an opponent’s face mask remains a personal foul with a 15-yard penalty.

They've been calling 15 yarders for incidental facemask grabbing.

Offhand, I can't really remember seeing any facemask penalties called this year that weren't flragrant. But I don't doubt that through human error, a few do get called.

Seems if you grab a face mask running full speed it is going to be hard not to pull, turn or twist. In a way the new rule is more damaging to the person grabbing the face mask. If I remember correctly in the old rule if you grabbed the masked and let go it was five yard but if you tackle someone to the ground while face masking you got 15. Like I said, it is going to be hard not to turn, pull or twist if you grab it. If I understand the new rule once that head gets pulled, turned or twisted even if you let go of it, you are going to get the 15 yards.

You may find it hard to believe that you can touch a facemask without twisting or pulling it, but a whole lot of 5-yard facemask penalties before the rule say otherwise.

That's where the judgement call came in I think and that what was the problem. Now if the head gets pull twisted or turned in anyway it's 15 yards. This goes back to the point I originally was trying to make, the running into the kicker or roughing he kicker should be the same penalty at lest that's what Mike Leach thinks.
