Absolutely not. There is no reason to. He isn't going anywhere right now, its the middle of the season. The team may **** the bed and win only 1 more game- why would a raise/extension be announced now?
Furthermore, a raise should only be given IF its needed. What he is already being paid is a ton of money and its expected that he perform well at his job for that money. So him performing well should hardly require even more money.
When there is an extension/raise, I hope it is heavily incentive laden based on performance and staying at MSU. Set a base salary that is thru the university and club. Then pay on top of that for- reaching a bowl game, winning a bowl game, finishing in the top25 of the playoff poll, finishing in the top 10 of the playoff poll, reaching the playoffs, winning in the playoffs, winning the national title.
7 things that have meaning and are benchmarks for which to judge performance.
And pay our assistants more since they are the ones developing the players, recruiting, and working in game with each group. They are the ones that will bolt for greener pastures- best keep em for as long as possible.
---I have no idea what his contract looks like right now, if all that I already posted is already included, then it just reaffirms my awesomeness. If it isn't included, why the 17 not? Paying for performance is always better than just paying money when it comes to competitive employees. A coach should not hesitate to be paid for performance, if they believe in their abilities.
