Its certainly not worth a grain of salt, but it is certainly different tone/tact than he has ever taken in response to job rumors in the past.

He told his players here he was going to be the coach here the next year and within the week, had taken the job at UF.

My favorite story though is Tommy Tubberville. He had said the only way he would ever leave Oxford was in a pine box and the VERY NEXT DAY took the Auburn job. But that's not my favorite story. It's when he was at Texas Tech on a recruiting dinner. Assistant coaches, recruits, etc. It was a big deal. He excused himself and his assistant coaches had thought he was just going to the bathroom. Nope. He just flat out left and that was how he quit Texas Tech.

Tubberville literally walked out of the press conference and headed to airport within the hour.

That’s definitely my favorite Tuberville story. I bet the guy is a helluva politician, because he is an elite level büllshitter.

Can you believe that man of integrity is now a United States Senator and will probably be the next Alabama governor?***
Hard to believe, isn't it? But look at the competition - there's not much. I suppose Saban could beat him but he's not interested.

Have you ever listened to him speak? He is remarkably well-spoken and well-versed on a variety of issues. He seems to have devoured books on public policy, foreign policy and American history and remembers everything's he's read. Wait, I'm thinking of the wrong guy. He's sounds like he's truly stupid.

Just read an article saying Dan Mullen is begging for the Arkansas job. Not surprised.
AKA: Jimmy Sexton is begging Arkansas to consider Dan Mullen. As any good agent should be doing.

I really believe Dan is going to wait a year and then make the move next year. However, if carnage occurs then I could see him making the move this year. I just believe he'll want to keep Cannon at Bishop Gorman for at least 2 years.

Dan's not the young, piss and vinegar coach that's super ambitious anymore. He's been there and done that. I'm not saying he'll stay at UNLV, but he's not the same guy he was when he was here. He probably never will be that guy again.

A coach at midseason saying he’s going to stay is about as worthless as Monopoly money.
You can burn monopoly money for heat or wipe your *** with it. Or I guess play monopoly with it. It has some value.

A coach saying he's staying in midseason might have a negative correlation with him actually staying. Maybe not on an absolute basis, but compared to coaches that don't make the statement, I would assume they're much more likely to leave.

Penn State and Arkansas I am sure verbally already have their man. Same thing if Florida cans Billy.

Agents work in the background LONG before anything is made public. I am guessing we will see a few new $100M coaches named at the end of this season.

The coaches that get the big contracts are masters are making players/alumni/fans think it is ALL ABOUT THEM. When in fact, it is not all about them.

Jimbo Fisher, Brian Kelly, Dabo Sweeney, Kirby Smart, Ryan Day, Kalen DeBoer. Let the losses pile up and upset fans grow and you will see exactly how much they do not care about anyone but their $50M plus golden parachute out of town. We will see this more and more as unrealistic expectations hit programs that are spending over $20M/year.

Canon is a sophomore this year and the Las Vegas high school basketball environment is a great one. Will be interesting to follow him. He's 6'4" already. Can't imagine Canon won't figure highly in Dan's decision.

Video of Canon from this summer's Atlanta youth league. He was invited to the Wootten Top 150 earlier this month.
