DP:" I asked Kelly whether he tried to keep him in Eugene. "No," he said. "We have standards here at school and it was plain and simple, straight forward. People have asked me was it a hard decision? No, it wasnt"

Someone alert Rick Cleveland and let him not not "everyone" would do it

Some people can't wrap their heads around the fact that we had two qb's on the roster. One with experience and one the size of f-f-favre.

but see Chip Kelly is the coach at Oregon. Dale Nutt, big Texter, justifies what he needs, ie Jamar Hornsby. Its one thing when a kid goes south while at school, Nutt goes after them after they have gone, Jamar Hornsby being his worst offense. Charging over 70 times on the dead girls credit card he stole wasnt enough to get Nutt to back off. Stay classy

that took Blount off of suspension and back onto his team following a loss last season.

he can say what he wants too, but his actions speak a lot louder and clearer

I would like to know your basis for this.

read the 1st sentence. that was an action. his interview today was words.

to me it appears he did what suited him best when it was time to win

But didn't Mullen sign Maurice Langston?

Then Langston got caught transporting a pound of marijuana. He was charged with possession with intent to distribute, a felony that carries up to a 20 year sentence and a $30k fine.

Then Langston plead his charge down to possession in order to avoid prison. Mullen suspended him.

Then Mullen reinstated him while he was still on probation and he played in 5 games.

Why is Nutt held to a higher standard?

Didn't the righteous disciple Croom sign a guy from his jail cell?

Remember the campus shooting incident? You guys never let go of Anthony Johnson, but he transferred.

Remember the beatdown of the cop?

Why so self-righteous?

that Blount missed 10 games last season and only played in the Civil War. I guess he was obsessed with beating Oregon State?

they arent identical situations but surely you can spot the double standard. if im not mistaken blount had been suspended the previous season as well. i realize this is the hot topic, but there are oodles of stories like this throughout college football.

im thankful the timing worked out well for us this time. our offense was going to scare me this year, still might, but he brings me some hope. if he gets arrested next month and will gladly accept yall ribbing me, but in the big scheme who gives a *+*@?

we - and our Head Coaches - all have skeletons in this closet! If you sign 25-28 guys each year, there is bound to be some 'strays' in the bunch, be it Alabama to Xavier. The harder argument is when a coach brings in a guy after the fact - so to speak - but still, every coach has done this as well. There are such things as second chances - Thank God!

the biggest difference to me is that we didn't beg him to come to MSU after he was arrested because we really needed a cornerback desperately. He was already committed to us when he was arrested.

The closest thing Dan has done to this is go after Cam Newton, and even in that case, Newton had to go to JUCO for a year, and believe me, we could have used him last year. It wasn't- "Oh, Cam Newton just got kicked off of Florida's team, let's go beg him to come to MSU and get him to walk on and find some degree that UF doesn't offer so that we can get him to school".

As far as the Croom stuff- Croom sucked. Discipline off the field was an area that he also failed in despite his hot air. He also is no longer a part of MSU, and I bet if you asked Byrne, that would be one of the many reasons why he was let go, among others to numerous to list.

I got no problem with a second, even a third chance. You are talking about a guy that just got kicked off another team for speeding, with a suspended license, with dope in the car while on probation for theft. I'm not saying either one is right but your guy is really, really stupid.

This is not to say I wouldn't have signed him too, just saying you are full of ****.

decided who was going to the Rose Bowl.

that Blount was really the difference in that game- 51 yards on 9 carries. Decent considering the amount of rust that he had. That was great game planning by Kelly right there.

And seriously, you don't think that Blount could have helped them out against USC? If it was win at all costs, that would be the game that I would bring him back in. I know that they beat them anyway, but they wouldn't know that during the week leading up to the game.

This is loaded with ********. You conveniently left out his 1 TD in a 4 point win. Accident, I'm sure. Secondly, even if you believe that Blount's contribution to the win was insignificant, why would that justify Kelly's decision to play him? Do you think Kelly said, "Now LeGarrett, I'm going to let you play, but you better not run hard." If that's the case, then if Masoli doesn't perform well, will Nutt be off the hook too?

You mentioned not knowing whether he would win against USC as if the same can't be said for the game against OSU. Kelly played his best player in the biggest game of the year. Period. But hey as long as the player gets arrested while on your team, that's all that matters, right?

im a little surprised that Kelly is still fielding questions about this. as head coach i wouldve thought he would made a initial comment and then get back to focusing on his team.

he is keeping his name in the press, so perhaps thats his angle. i know ive enjoyed all the press we've gotten.....both good and bad
