Bear fans should not be talking about MSU reporters getting called out. Several people have said similar things about "Fancy Yancy."</p>

It's still funny because Gene prides himself on doing what he can to help with recruiting, but then he actually hurts MSU with a recruit based on a post he made on a message board, the type of post that someone in his position would be wise not to make about a prospect ever.

It's similar to him calling someone an "Orgeron type player" not a "Croom type player" insinuating something about their character. I can't remember who he said that about, but that's the type of stuff he'd be wise to avoid saying.

Yancy says some stupid stuff too. Never said he didn't, but I would bet that he'd be pretty embarassed if something he said on a message board was cited as one of the reasons why a player chose not to come to Ole Miss.

There really is no defending Gene on this. If you play up a player like he's not a package deal when he commits and then you call him a package deal when his buddy commits elsewhere, it's just stupid and ruins what little credibility he has.

And spare me on Yancy. He's ruined his credibility plenty of times. I realize that when I see his stuff I have to sift through the garbage to get to the real facts. Facts are there, but you have to sift through some BS quite often.

The one thing Gene and Yancy both have in common besides really bad hair is that their both goobers that take recruiting to a stalkerish level way too often.

as to whom Gene was referring to as an "Ed Orgeron type player".

It royally pissed me off that he said that- even worse than a mb, on RADIO.

I called his *** out on his board about it too- last post on Genespage to this day, in fact.

Joe was "advised" to choose a Sun Belt school over a SEC offer, which to me is completely stupid. People ask what's the problem with Scott Lindsey- and that is exhibit A. He is all for helping kids- as long as they don't go to State. That is obviously the case here.

And I do know that Hud was the one that really liked Price- not saying that he and Tobias weren't a package deal necessarily, but it's not like he was a total waste in the view of the coaching staff.

Back to my point, I agree that Joe Price isn't a five star mega US Army recruit. But, he does have speed. And you give him to Balis and you give him to coaches that can develop him, and he could have been a very productive player for us, which also would have benefitted him as well. Personally, I think Bobby Hall's offensive scheme limited him and Tobias for that matter.

Now he is going to go to a Sun Belt school over a SEC school coming off of a NYD bowl win on the "advice" of someone that he was supposed to trust. This would be like me coming to Jackson from out of town and paying a realtor to advise me to buy a house, and him telling me to buy a house on Lynch St. over Madison because he hates Madison.

then more power to them. I'm surprised he has made such a stupid choice, unless we aren't offering him anymore.

It's surprising that someon hasn't poiinted out to him that online msg boards can be manipulated and he should not take that as gospel.

Too bad they couldn't talk him into going to Jackson State or somewhere his family could easily watch.

I'm a big believer that coaching is the #1 thing in college football. This is why we have teams like Boise State with Sun Belt talent that could give Alabama or any other top 10 team hell. And as far as talent, I think dedication, a good work ethic, and a great attitude can sometimes surpass talent. Everyone is getting butt hurt over Tobias and some guys who think they're holier than thou not wanting to come here...

Give me guys like Dixon and Market. Read these articles. They want to come to MSU, and they want more than anything in the world to work their tails off to gain respect from the coaching staff and fans.

Come on, guys. Some of yall are chasing after the prudest girls in high school.

and he has to lie in the bed that he makes.

But, it is still sad to see someone mislead.

So let me get this straight......

Ole Miss, who hasn't now, nor ever, offered Price a scholly, is behind him calling out State? Seriously? That is your argument? For the love of God, some of you are complete dumbasses. So you honestly believe that three weeks before signing day, when we are in battles for players like Brassell, Johnson, Mason, etc., we are spending time trying to sway Joe Price to go to ULL? That is your theory? If our staff has spent one second on that, they should all be fired. We are fighting for 3 Top 100 players, and we are worried about State signing Joe Price. Fantastic theory. Just awesome.

Second, and I want to make sure this is your argument, as well.....A bus driver has enough influence over two kids from Madison to sway their college decision. Not Bobby Hall, not Bernard Euell, not their parents or close friends......their bus driver. Are you people listening to yourselves? Do you not read this ridiculous stuff and laugh at those posting it?

How about this on Price...and this is just two theories:

1)Maybe he was a package deal, and your staff doesn't want him any longer. However, they would have take him along with Singleton, but now he(Singleton) isn't even visiting because your fans bash the hell out of the kid over a VERBAL. Not a signature, but a verbal. So now, you aren't getting either. Also, if you don't think that Swindoll running his mouth matters, then I don't know what to tell you.

2) Hud and Stringer sold him on the fact that he would be able to play offense @ ULL. We already know both of these guys are very good recruiters, so why is it so hard to believe a kid wants to go to a smaller school if he can play offense? Deangelo Williams turned us down for Memphis. Maybe that is his thinking, and maybe Hud and Stringer are doing a better job of selling this to him. So instead of using the stupid theory that Ole Miss is somehow behind this, has it occured to you that both Hud and Stringer(neither who cared much for Mullen as a person), could be telling Price these things? Maybe they are telling him something none of us know.

He's probably right about Price too.

That really doesn't matter though. For someone in his position who serves as an interviewer for a specific school you can't say disparaging stuff like that about a player. He has to learn to control that. I really don't know who is more retarded, Gene or Yancy. They both are in different ways.

that everyone has on their mind is WHY a black athlete would choose Ole Miss if they had other SEC offers? Klan rallies for Homecoming, Redneck Confederate flags, Dixie, etc. Hell,Ole Miss'sadministration had to limit what their band played so that the student body would stop chanting "The South Will Rise Again". Why would a black high school kid choose to deal with that **** considering that Ole Miss is the only university in the 17ing nation that holds on to Civil War relic traditions. I will assume that you have no problems with the "tradition" of Ole Miss either or you would have never become a fan. I have raised this question several times, but no rebel seems to have an answer, or at leastnone have the balls topost iton a public forum I guess that we can just agree to disagree on this subject, I will take cowbells over whatever Ole Miss is offering. Most of the kids that go to Ole Miss to play ball are sellouts. I will tell you that nobody on this board gives a flying 17 what you or any other Rebel thinks about our views on recruiting or anything else. Go back to nafoom or should I say....the land of cotton.Regardless ofhow the recruiting season ends, we all know that your freshman are going to get to experience a complete beatdown in Starkvillethis November, that is a given.

It doesn't matter if he is right or wrong, he shouldn't say stuff about the players because it is, to break a board rule, low class.

And hypocritical since he has banned many people for saying something negative about players and MSU in general.

Gene and Yancy are both douches. It's hilarious when Gene goes to a baseball game with his radar gun, and you see all of the MLB scouts at the game cringe. They all have that "please God, don't let him sit by me" look on their face. Of course, I read about Yancy's bathroom reports and I wonder when I'm going to see him coming face to face with Chris Hanson on To Catch a Predator.
