Why not 7 wins? That would be a nice finish and then the money will flow in.
A lot easier to get to 6 than 7… if you are gonna ask for money and depend on that 7th win, the way this team plays, may not happen.

6 and a bowl. If we win 7 and the bowl game, then we’ve got 8… one can dream… but 6 and a bowl will show the donors the slightest bit of improvement, which is critical for fundraising.

Absolutely 7 would be better, but why paint yourself into a corner?

Dannen has a tough act to follow when you are talking the NU AD chair and football success. Trev killed the UNO football program and NU football teams averaged 4 wins under his watch. How can Dannen possibly beat that success?

NEEDS it because boosters will want money spent on buyout if we don't get it. Get to 6 or 8 and money for buyout becomes a next year or 2 year issue if at all.

I live in Omaha
I notice you said, “I live in Omaha” not, “I’m a Husker fan.”

I can read between the lines enough to know you aren’t a Husker fan. I’m not saying you need to toe the line and be supportive of all things Huskers, but when your only post in the volleyball thread is linking Nebraska’s championship game loss to Texas last year, and have yet to post anything positive about the Huskers in general, it’s pretty obvious you aren’t a Husker fan.

As low as the bar is, we’ll still find a way to trip over it.

Aside from the volleyball team, what is there to be excited about?

Soccer team was decent. Wbb doing well again. Bowling team nationally ranked top 5 again. We're not iowa. Track teams did great. Wrestling did good.

Nowhere to go but up for the football team.

All in all there's plenty to be excited about but also not satisfied with

I want to win six because we are going to start asking people for gifts,” Dannen said on Monday night’s episode of Sports Nightly. “(The stadium project) will cost a lot of money.”
IMO this program doesn't need any more "gifts" till these dudes start winning and playing to their potential. I want them to be successful, but at some point they need to earn the damn stuff that they have. It's embarrassing to spend this kind of money and have nothing in return.

I’ve never understood the project as it seems such a hassle to incrementally tear down sections of the stadium. Plus, the cost of said “upgrades” is about 1/3 the price it would cost to build a whole new stadium.

Terrible timing all around for a program that remains irrelevant.

If we don't get 6 wins, just burn that fvcking stadium to the ground, take the insurance money and start over. At least the bs sellout streak will finally come to an end.

Dannen has the mercenary CEO feel of, I am going to do the things that better places expect me to do to seem good at my job. Open up revenue options, every decision is about the bottom line, do things that might seem out of touch or disconnected from the humanity of the place but it makes the most money...plop all of that on a resume and promote out. College football to fans is a DEEPLY personal experience, a very human experience but to him and most traveling ADs it is purely about creating visible monetary change to get promoted. I don't know if that is better than having someone that loves NU or not...a lot of the people who profess to love NU, seem to love themselves more. Always going to be a disconnect between coaches who are scamming for a 80 million dollar contract, and ADs who are creating changes to purely make money, vs fans and alums who just love and are fanatics for the N. We certainly know that making more money(ie joining the big 10) doesn't equate to winning more.

Every other person who is a fan, in spite of their frustrations about the state of the program, actually roots for success for the program.

I have yet to see any of your posts rooting for success for the program.
