If we don't go to 8, got back to 2 and make the formula known. I'd rather have us knowing that the outcome of some WAC game between teams with losing records will determine the playoff teams than having a committee with the transparency of federal government deciding it.

I think the committee basically seeded the playoff by the exact BCS standing. That seems pretty coincidental.
What I`m watching on ESPN right now is 17ing sickening with Holtz and Herbstreet. This whole process ended up being about money,politics and TV ratings as many of us thought from the start. So yea I was happier with the BCS.
There's no point getting into a semantic argument. But at least with the BCS, you didn't rely on Condaleeza Rice to decide who played for the national championship, who I believe one of her credentials to do so was that she was once engaged to someone who played football at the University of Minnesota.
My point is, it's never going to be perfect. Pick a system and stick with it. People are going to complain no matter what, but changing the system every year makes the NCAA Conspiracy Theory have more credibility. This system is the absolute definition of subjectivity. Instead of hundreds of people selecting who has a shot, now there are twelve. That doesn't bother you?

NO. The BCS would lead to an FSU-Alabama matchup, which would be Bama-Notre Dame all over again.
I would rather Rice and a couple more academi than retired sports people, ie. Archie. I think this would make it more objective than subjective and political. Let the formula speak for itself.
