Why the hell would he? Duke clearly a better job than Kentucky right now. And given what he has done at Duke, he can surely hold out for a better job,

May be too conservative...UK should look for a younger, up and coming guy who has a track record of consistent success wherever he has been...JMO

My whole reasoning on him as a possible hire would Be he is a coach that could get UK back to stable ground and maybe even win 7-8 games a year. Yes he's old but so was rich brooks

Do you think he would have brought the excitement level (albeit for only a couple years) that expanded the stadium and broke tons of records?
Nope but he would have built the program the right way and would have not destroyed the program. Plus he would have had some pretty good offenses himself. Couch would have done just fine and would have probably been better prepared for the NFL.

Don't know but I do think the program would've been on much sounder foundation.

Re Cutcliffe's age...he's 62 as is Tressell and just a year or 2 older than Briles. Not saying yes or no on him, just passing along his age.

I say too old because I figure he wouldn't want another rebuild at that age. I'd take him in a heartbeat.

Actually I agree as I think all 3 would pass on rebuilding at their age.
The next coach may have to go to the JUCO ranks to fill some immediate needs on defense but I'm not sure it's a complete rebuild for a coach who knows what he's doing.

Were we still patient enough to wait for him to rebuild the program? It took him 5 years to get to a bowl game at Duke and 6 years to get a winning record. The SEC was much tougher than the ACC back then (at least in the East). Probably would have took as long or longer as his Duke rebuild.

Having Tim Couch and an unconventional system allowed us to be successful much faster under Mumme. It may have led to NCAA problems, but it also raised the fan expectations and showed we expect to do more than just be a doormat of the SEC.

Cut would have had a pretty good offense here. It wouldn't have been quite as prolific but he would have brought a more competent staff (i.e. not Mike Major as DC). It may have taken a couple of years but he wouldn't have been the disaster that Mumme was.
