I still shake my head and laugh at all the talking heads lining up and lobbying for Padgett to have the “interim” tag removed last year: Tim Brando, Bob Valvano, Fred Cowgirl, Tim Sullivan, etc.

I’m not the one who’s implying that Padgett didn’t deserve it. Nothing that has happen since proves that.
Padgett was in way over his head last year. It was very obvious - from the staff he assembled, to the in-game decisions he made, the personnel he chose to play, to the personnel he chose to sit.
He did the best he could given the circumstances but those who bantered for him to be retained were and still remain clueless. EVERYTHING that has happened since proves that.
Maybe they were considering the 5X difference in salaries. And maybe "Vince" should have--he still ain't outta the (financial) woods...
Why cause Mack is getting the most out of VJ that David couldn’t... oops wait a minute.
Major difference between CCM and CDP is that CCM is sitting what is his most talented player for performance while CDP kept his (Adel) on the court no matter what.
Don’t get me wrong I agree with this. I think CDP was compelled to play the “stars” Adel and VJ but that is the difference between having a long term contract and one with an interim label. It’s all good. I support whoever is the U of L coach but I don’t think there’s a need to take shots at David.
Yeah,Padgett accepted mission impossible. I will always be grateful that he did. A true Cardinal.
^^^ Yes, this is all that needs to be said about the job Padgett did last year. And good luck to him on ESPN and wherever else the future takes him.
He got off to a hot start but it was fools gold. I was skeptical we could get CCM or anyone worth a crap, so I thought after that ND win on the road that Padgett had just about earned it for me. Quickly we learned that the team wasn’t ready for the ACC schedule, and that David was indeed, in over his head. However, I do think that he was dealt a crap hand. He got much less time to prepare and build the team than CCM. Between the lackluster season and the total ineptitude on the recruiting front it’s obvious that David is better suited as an assistant.
The guy did help Ray reach his potential for sure, and Mahmoud was a highly ranked shot blocker (that’s about all I can say positive about his game). The man can coach Bigs. I feel like he could learn as an HC but he needs more time under topflight coaches and he needs to work on player discipline and recruiting. Those were the main deficiencies although he was also dealt a crap hand in recruiting. Mack seems to be getting it back on track though which I thought would take longer.
What can’t be overlooked is that CDP had a staff that was put together, what a couple of weeks before the season started? Team just lost their HC and they had to wonder if their season just went down the tubes? Not to mention the guys who obviously wanted to go to the NBA. What about Snider? Here it was his senior year and he was going out with a bang only to have Pitino dismissed. So many intangibles and before you say these kids are adults, they’re not professionals. Lot easier for Mack to follow Padgett then Padgett to follow Pitino...
Mack makes DP look like a grade school coach. DP sitting Nwora? Really? Ray Charles could see that was a mistake!

Great comeback. Making fun of a blind person. You just showed your IQ. David’s dad was a pretty good coach, I’ll take that as a compliment. Just for the record, we saw what Nwora could do when he played for his National team before Mack was named coach so don’t be throwing undeserved credit. Educate yourself before mommy lets you back on the computer.
P.S - just for the record, go back just a few games and you’ll see that Nwora wasn’t starting because he was thinking shoot all the time. Hmm. Let him sit until he figures it out that he has to rebound. Novel concept.
