will be moving inside. Including McPhee and F. Cox. Newsflash, it might be good to have a big athletic defensive end too. LSU has been doing it for years.
Yes, I know that we are having to make up for what we don't have on the interior, but still. I prefer to get my pressure from the outside and have two fat space eaters in the middle. Ok, Love and Williams may not be able to rush the quarterback, but can they just hold the LOS? They should be able to. Particularly, when you are facing a mobile quarterback, pressure up the middle means nothing but a jailbreak.
I still feel like we are an excellent candidate for the 3-4. We are always going to be able to recruit more linebackers than lineman. It is just the way it is. We are always going to have "tweeners" that arent quite athletic enough to play end or not quite big enough to play inside - see Devin Jones, Sean Ferguson, Shane McCardell, Nick Bell, KJ Wright, etc. All of those guys would be prototype OLBs in a 3-4. White and Chaney in the middle, Wright and Ferguson/McCardell on the outside - McPhee, Love, Burns on the line. You are more athletic, faster and better tailored to our talent. Especially when you have two hosses like White and Chaney in the middle to plug the inside running game. And how many teams really run a focused power inside running scheme anymore? MAYBE, LSU, Auburn, UGA? The 3-4 is definitely better against option/spread schemes, I would think. Tell me what I am missing.
