I was reading a blurb about Dudley Field from Vandy's website, and it states that Dudley Field was the first stadium built in the South only for college football.

Now, Scott Field is older, but was it ever used for another sport, like track and field?

Anyone know? Dawgbreeze, when you were an undergrad when it opened, did you see anything else there?

Yep

It had a track around it, that is why the stands are a bit farther from the field, than a dedicated football only field.

I honestly never knew that. I knew it was named after Don Magruder Scott but never knew there was a track around it.

It was indeed a track and field facility. It had a true 440 yard cinder-based surface with a brick edge completely surrounding the field. If you fell, it was painful... The pole vault area was on the 50 yard line and ran parallel up against what is now the landing area in front of the west side of the stadium ( behind the MSU bench area.)

It was a track field, hence who the field is named after.

Correct. What's been driving me nuts is that I can recall seeing an aerial black and white photo of this. But, as I live and breathe, I cannot remember the source of where I have seen the photo.

Perhaps an old Reveille or the "Mississippi State Football Vault?"

I believe there is a photo of it on this years schedule poster that shows how the stadium has evolved over the last 100 years.

By the way, is there a way to allow C(no space)D(no space)M to be allowable when part of a URL?

That picture makes me wish we had bowled in the whole stadium before building upper decks. I know the stadium will look great this year, but could have been bowled in a long time ago.
