On a walk off wild pitch. Woodruff, Lindgren, Bracewell, and Holder all pitch. Cohen says no Preston Brown this weekend.

Begger's can't be choosers...

but it does kinda frustrate me a tad that we didn't even swing the bat in the final inning... a BB, 2 IBBs, and a wild pitch-off to win the game... I'll take it, but when will we turn a corner at the plate?

I'm also not being a negative nancy, but USM had a better chance of winning pitching to Vickerson to try to get a K or a popup. But aGAIN... I'm not being picky, I just want to see us turn a corner and start showing the talent at the plate I know we have.

I would have been very tempted to pitch to Vickerson. Double play would be tough to turn with him, but I might would have taken my chances.

I wouldn't have played for the DP

so much as I would have a K or a pop-up. 2 outs with a runner at third looks a lot different than 1 out.

I'm just speculating, though... I'm glad we won. Wins right now are more important than how we won... I just hope this weekend gets the priority it needs, and the emphasis needs to be on a winning lineup. Put our best hitters on the field, period.... and move Vickerson out of the leadoff slot. He may develop and earn his way up there someday, but right now, it's pretty unanimous that Armstrong deserves to be there more than anyone else on the team.

You could always intentionally/unintentionally walk him. Maybe he chases and gets himself in a hole. Guess they were concerned about a squeeze play with armstrong's speed at 3rd.

Yes, it gives the defense a slight edge because it sets up the force play at home. The catcher doesn't have to swipe a tag, it simply becomes a forceout... increasing your chances of not allowing the run to score. But what's odd is they didn't play in, they were in a DP defense... I guess they figured the first/third baseman and pitcher would play in to guard anything shallow and keep the SS and 2nd baseman in a position to turn the DP.

You're not being a negative nancy. You're just stating the obvious. Right now, we are a terrible team at the plate.
