I would not be shocked if he were not on the UofL sideline next year. Richard going to work for Donovan was not a young guy just trying to expand his resume.

The only thing I found that hinted at what this is about was on a Michigan State board. It basically said that he was banging a manager's wife and she was trying to extort money from him. That's a pretty sketchy allegation and I don't think it should be big enough to bring him down. Is there more to it, or will the Card faithful be upset enough about that to kick the great one to the curb?

I don't think he would be kicked to the curb. He may just say the hell with it. I'm not saying its a slam dunk. I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised. Again, Richard didn't leave because he was clamoring to work for Billy Donovan.

Yeah, I could see Patino leaving on his own accord. But it would be a real shame if his career ended because of something like this.

not sure if you guys are hearing the same things i am... its not the equipments manager's wife - it's him.

and as if that was not enough, there's something more shocking on top of that

and apparently there is audio/video evidence from the wife

I agree. I think his plan was to get the new arena open and then ride off into the sunset in a couple of years and that may still be the plan. But I think if everyone thought this thing would blow over, Richard would not have taken the job in Gainesville. The only way he was leaving before all of this hit the fan was to run his own program. He tried to follow in RP's footsteps at Boston U, but the Villanova asst got that one. It raises an interesting question. Who gets the Louisville job if he leaves. It's a good one that's about to get better.

He was banging the male equipment manager? That is awesome, if true. I bet his hair never got mussed during the whole thing.

Not a Petino fan.

The only thing I've read is that it was the wife. If you've heard of more, then go ahead and post it.

I linked an article where Coach Pitino issued a public statement about it. In other words - and I'll go John Madden slow for you - it was in the newspaper and what he had to say about it was in quotes.

Just got interesting...

http://www.cardchronicle.com/

Seems that the equipment manager AND Pitino are saying that this woman is creating malicious allegations AGAINST THEM. Someone on the Louisville-Courier site said there was possible audio evidence too. Why would the equipment manager be worried about allegations against him?? Sounds awfully strange to me. I could see Pitino banging her, but not HIM. Didn't think he swung from that side of the plate.
