Expanding on this, I dont get Ferrari's game plan in that match, or in general. With only 7 seconds of riding time and the other guy already a stall warning, why not go neutral and come at him for 30 seconds? Elite D and scrambler, i like his chances at a takedown or at least forcing a stall, and its a W in either case.

More generally, dude is an elite talent but seems to prefer taking a match to rideouts, where the weakest part of his game gets exposed. Trust the skills and go win these matches.
not disagreeing with you...but hopefully he gets more than 14 matches next year headed into the NCAA.

I love the Brands, but it's time. Last night when our wrestler was not winning, Terry said, "Don't shoot unless it is 'undefendable'." They've lost their edge. Most of us saw it coming. When Brand's own son didn't wrestle like a Brands, somethings been lost. But here we are again, another year outside the top 3, with zero B1G or NCAA champs. Multiple freshman beating our butts. And by reading threads like this too much of the fan base is feeling pretty good about the results.
To be fair when he said undefendable he was talking to Gabe arnold who very obviously has a size difference against everyone he's wrestling at the tournament

Please fix OT. Rideouts is gay as ****.
I said when it started if it goes to ride outs he’s F’ed. He not good on mat and still giving up size and some strength to top 2 sophomores. He never had to use his great defense because Max never got close to a leg. This off season Angelo needs to work on his mat game and hit the weights. Maybe try some freestyle.

Kennedy needs to teach his quick tight sit out to everyone on the team. Great to have in ride outs. Angelo would have won if that was in his arsenal. Also, Angelo has to lean to hold onto legs in ride outs, especially against a moose like Mac or Rocco.
Angelo is the quickest guy in the weight class, and he's strong as hell and scrambles well. He needs to fire off more shots, that's gotta be his mindset going forward.

He can score more, and he should IMO. If he doesn't he's going to end up with the same results. He's got the talent, put it to work.

Hard to argue with their recruiting. Jax predicted they would pass PSU next year or year after for sure. PSU is very young, but it may be competitive at least.
May still be a few years out Penn st has horses in the stable for awhile.

I predicted either Davino or Blaze would be a tough out for Jax. His looseness will get exploited. Tough to bet against Jax at this point, but I think it's about 50-50.

Agree 100%. Love Angelo but if he chooses to wrestle razor thin matches where he wins by scoring late or outriding his opponent in 2OT then losing late is always going to be a real possibility against the better guys.

Angelo has to spend the off season learning to ride. And bulking up a bit more would also help a lot.
He needs to get healthy, get in great shape and never miss a match. You miss that many matches and it is a huge disadvantage, not only experience wise but more important, just being in great shape.

Ferrari is a great wrestler to get to the semis his freshman year, but he missed too much time to injury, and it cost him in the last match. If he wants to get to the top he’s got to stay healthy the whole year, and get a bit more aggressive on offense.

MM wins how Hawkeyes usually do. Congratulations to Max, we get what we deserve.

I can't even verbally compare wrestling for PSU and OSU to whatever this absolute denial of what it means to actually play the sport of what Iowa even does. I mean if I was a casual fan trying to be interested in the sport? Iowa is literally behind or on par with watching two bulls f*ck each other. Not a semblance of what to do growing within the sport.
Iowa > your team

He actually grew up in Denver and didn't move to Waverly until 8th or 9th grade to get better workout partners to practice with and can't blame him for it either.
Hey man my nephew is doing the same thing not from Denver but moved to Waverly for the same just a good place to be if you like wrestling

With Gabe AAing at 197 - I wonder if Ferrari at 174 and Gabe at 184 next year is the best team lineup
Ferrari isn't a big 184, in my eyes anyway, but he doesn't look like he has any weight to lose either. Gabe proved he could get there so......

John Smith and Tom Ryan approve of this strategy and ask “What could possibly go wrong?”

Gabe will be fine at 174. He will once again have that height disadvantage at 184 which will limit him. And let Angelo grow into the weight a bit. It is fine.
