1. The number one way to tell the Croom Error is over- yesterday really hurt. Badly. No longer being numb on the inside is great on one hand, but losing a game like that really hurts. But its great to have the excitement back and good times are indeed ahead

2. To see what Mullen and staff are doing with this team of lesser talent is absolutely awesome. We have a few good players, but our talent level is not in the top 10 of the conference- yet here we are competing and having chances to win SEC games. When these guys get some better players, and they will, we are going to be enjoying some bowl games.

3. Great playcall on 3rd down- poor execution. It took a great play from Chad Jones to stop it. He was wide-*** open. Our playcalling has been excellent. Its great to be able to watch us and not be sure of what we are going to run.

4. The rain helped level the playing field yesterday. LSU may have thrown for 400 yards had it not been wet. We arent a passing team at all, and every time it rains is an advantage for us. Keep it coming I say.

5. Relf should be our wishbone QB on the goalline. C'mon Dan.

6. Lee is going to make some mistakes, but there is no doubt as to who should be the QB for a majority of our snaps. We just have to get some better recruits in and weather what these guys can do until then. As bad as they are, we still average 350 yards/game. You can win with that.

7. The Tyler Russell talk is ridiculous. Somebody on here mentioned he is the 4th QB currently. Not sure if thats true or not, but I wouldnt be surprised. Anybody thats watched our WR's play at all, will see that we are nowhere near having a competent passing game. Its going to take a year to teach these guys how to play football. There is no way you can put a throwing QB into our offense right now. We need to keep doing what we are doing and hope Lee and Relf can make enough throws for us to win a couple more games.

8. Kudos to Torbush for making needed changes on defense. Keep blitzing man, keep blitzing. I really think our secondary is the worst I've ever seen it. Its bad when Korey Banks would be an upgrade.

9. We have a shot to win any game left except Fla and Bammer. Although Houston is going to rape our secondary- we have to get pressure on their QB to have a chance. Good to have hope though again.

10. Its amazing how bad Crooms really was. Can you imagine how awful this team would be if he were still coaching? Especially without 4 or 5 of the freshmen Mullen kept on board with his hiring?

Anybody not excited about the direction of our program right now wont ever be excited about MSU football

Mullen on your Number 5....i take it Mullen doesnt put up with mental mistakes too well

Mullen was asked if putting 6-foot-4 and 230-pound quarterback Chris Relf in the game was an option at the time. But Mullen noted he was pleased with the way Lee was directing the offense at the time.

"When we were doing things right there (in the fourth quarter), Chris went in the game and got hit early," said Mullen. "He was healthy and was okay but went back the next one and missed a check. Tyson was getting us in the right place and we were running the football and doing a good job of that stuff.

They may pass on us, but we'll run all day on them. Dixon will get 200 yards and we'll control the line and the clock.

we'll have to take care of the ball. If we give them short fields to play on, they'll murder us.

This is a good point, and one I was thinking about this morning.

The only kind of loss that hurts worse than this was a similar loss we had in Tuscaloosa early in Sherrill's years. Last seconds of the game, we get down to the 1 yard line to try for a go-ahead touchdown. But we end up not scoring and Bama wins. The only difference there is it cost us a chance for a SEC championship.

On Saturday, nothing was lost but pride. Maybe, maybe an outside shout at a wanna-be bowl.

At the end of the day weekend, we can look at this game and appreciate how much we have improved and how much better we'll be as the team keeps learning and Mullen keeps recruiting.

Regarding Lee vs Relf, Mullen commented that Lee did a great job making pre-snap reads and getting us into the right play or blocking. Fans can't see this during a game or even watching a replay. No idea how Relf performs in this area. Regardless, a QB has to be good here and its something that usually goes unappreciated.

gave a fair assessment here and I will admit that it nice to see you not taking the low road and only highlighting the mistakes. We HAVE improved and will continue to get better with this head coach!

I doubt we'd have even gotten on the scoreboard because we'd still have the same ****** O-Line coach and offensive scheme from last year. We moved the ball running up the gut that second half because of the improvement in the O-Line. The very thing Crooms and company tried and tried to do but couldn't against anyone, much less an LSU defense. Can't fault Mullen at all for this one other than not having Relf in there on the goaline but then again, the plays were there for the midget, he just didn't get it done.

We had all three timeouts left!! We were able to get the ball back and had the chance at a return or big play because of the timeouts.

It sucks so, so bad to have lost that game, but I take great comfort in the fact that it's clear we are competently coached now.

I said this exact quote last night after the game -
Its bad when Korey Banks would be an upgrade.
I also compared our current CB's to Odell Bradley and David Heard. Never a good thing when those two names arise.
