It's part of the story of Rutgers and its redemption in the eyes of the nation. Articles aren't just written for Rutgers fans. I don't want to see it either, but I get, in the context of the story, why it's there.
I know you write but I'll disagree.
The team doesn't need redemption for something a coach did.
Do they include stories about players committing murder and coaches fired for sexual blackmail of their own players when they write about them,?
They talk about us being the 9th place team like it wasn't a huge tight standings oh and they didn't mention the OSU game? Or this being the 3/4th year in a row we're (likely) in?
It was a really nice piece otherwise.
Yes they did. But 11 years after the fact? They 100% do. I'm sure if you look at the Baylor stories from years ago they mention the scandal they had to dig out from.
Yes they did. But 11 years after the fact?
we'll if everything else they say in there comes true then I can live with it. It was a very complimentary piece. Hopefully the committee feels likewise. It took a lot longer for RU to get good than Baylor. If it was 30 years... I'd get it. I don't think they needed to include the video, but it's Deadspin. But readers are smart... they won't view this as a knock, but a redemption.
Local reporters should be beyond mentioning Rice, but I can't knock a national story for mentioning it.
