Dean - last time CCL Blue only had 3 in playoffs?

With Provy out and Rita probably out (pending games vs LA and Rice), when is the last time that the CCL Blue only had 3 teams make the playoffs. Most years it was all five or four but I can't remember a year when the Blue was down to 3?

1997 only had 2:MC and Marian. Rita, Rice, LA, and Marist did not qualify. 98 also had 3 in MC PC LA. Marist SR Marian did not qualify (Rice had been dropped for PC) 99 also only had 3 in MC PC Marian. SR LA Marist Did not qualify. Rice did but they were not Blue.

wait, 97-99 was not the CCL blue as we know it. Wasn't it the Catholic Metro Conference of different colors and shapes? So basically as constructed It's been a long time,...

I'd say it's a down year, but not worse. LA is highly ranked. Unfortunately if you go 0-4 in Blue and play a solid Non-Conf then you put yourself at risk for missing playoffs. Provy coming off a State Championship can still rest on its laurels for a year but Rita is going to have to rebound strong next year or things could go south if they miss again next year (granted they are still in it but beating LA and Rice is gonna be tough)

probly closest before was 2010. MC (8A title game) LA (8A semi) and SR (7A semi) all did well but PC went 2-7 and Rice got in at 5-4.
