Its time to hit the panic button if you are MC. You can have all the payers you want coming back but they were 0-4 in conference this year, 0-4. They have lost their identity or are trying to keep some form off it and its not working. Like most everyone else (some worst than others) their defense has not caught up to spread offenses. The veer needs a good defense, its not geared towards putting points on the board quickly so when you get down its hard to comeback. The weird hybrid spread/veer offense they ran against Rice was so uncomfortable to watch.

MC is absolutely fine. My beloved SR Mustangs are in the most precarious position. The frosh are simply not good (though they bust their asses) and the sophs lack size. I'm hoping for a memorable playoff run this year, because they can no longer be taken for granted.

My thoughts on Thomas playing his senior year, I think he will. He won't give up on the team his final year. His baseball future is secure, he has ride offers from most major colleges, unless God forbid he suffers a catastrophic injury, he is in outstanding physical condition, he should bounce back from a minor football injury if it occurs. He's an outstanding baseball player, my personal opinion, despite the talk, he won't get drafted in the first 2 rounds...he's small, they have him listed as 5'10, if you stand next to him, he's 5'10 maybe with his cleats on, he also weighs maybe 160, and he's lefty so he is going in the outfield. He will get drafted, no doubt, but if your going to use a high draft pick on a player out of high school, a 5'9 160 lefty outfielder may not be the high on MLB wish list out of high school in a cold weather state. Not a bust on him at all, he's amazing on fun to watch, but for getting drafted OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL mind you, in the EARLY ROUNDS, I'm 50-50 on it happening.

MC had an anomoly year - it will cause Frank to make some changes but overall when his teams have few turnovers, make tackles, have few penalties then more often than not MC wins. They lost some discipline this year on above and yes it hurt them, I see them with a minimum 7-2 next year (PC and Rita won't beat em if Thomas is on the field). LA and Rice will be tough games but anyone can win. MC does have to look at bringing in a kid who can throw better and Dutton on tape seems capable - however he's a decent not great runner like some prior MC QBs which game other teams fits

Good points. Tough decision (as to whether to play football) for the kid; people should not criticize him either way.

Why would he change his offense? Come on it is one season.

St Rita should be fine next year. The next classes are going to be rough though. Similar to MC and Providence though, things can happen in 7A or 6A that can make a post season run possible every year and cover up for some things that are shown in the CCL Blue.

Did you just posted MC scores against non conference and crossover games that they played against basically JV teams
Come on bro
42 vs BR...28 vs, SR...28 vs. LA...shouldn't lose games at MC when you score that many points against quality in conference team....offense is fine, Defense is the issue

The issue is going to be if he plays QB. You mention his size, at QB that could be a risk. Look at Gleaves from St Rita, he stayed with football and had a bad injury in practice. I think it all worked out but you never know.

I am certain with Thomas MLB connections they will know by next summer where he is sitting for 2018 draft.

Wasn't Griffith the QB as a frosh and wouldn't he have been the QB option for them? He was bigger I believe.

Yes he was the QB as a Freshman....Thomas was the RB...they were awesome, I think they beat BR 56-7 or around there as Freshman...I think he may have been considered for the offense, he is bigger, 6'0 180 I think, but he may have not been needed, if we had him on coverage I think we beat SR and Montini and possibly BR this year.

Year before was Moriarty game and for those two years tensions were high. Both frosh coaches have moved on but it goes to show how things transpire through a players career at a school. I thought with Moriarty, Thomas and Griffith they would roll last year, this and next back then. Borelli was a Godsend for Rice and with Griffith departure changed the CCL Blue this year.

I envisioned Griffith starting as a junior this year and next, that is where I think they lost the most. Stopping Loyola or Rice is not an issue in the state playoffs for them.

I don't think my point is coming across very clear
I don't think in my opinion kids these days want to run the veer. Athletes want to be in space and throw the ball around

The JV QB broke a bone in the MC game. That team was fine till then and with the varsity QB a junior he has time to heal. SR will be ok next year. QB and RB Childers both juniors and a sophomore WR all back. Offense was revamped this year time to revamp the defense this winter.

MC will be fine. One bad year out of 30. Most schools would die for that.

Mc may very well have a bounce back year and be 7-2 next year. but I do not see them beating pc. pc defends the veer better then anyone else in the blue year in year out Mc does not score a lot vs pc. pc was almost all Jr's this year. their only big losses are at rb and qb. kalinoski the Jr qb is a stud and Mariono sori will most likely start at rb was out all year do to broken collar bone. sori was the best athlete on the team this year as a jr.

no idea he basically didn't come off the field weeks 1 and 2. playing offense defense and special teams. then after that basically nothing all yr. had a couple of nice receptions vs br in the 1st half but besides that was non existent vs blue teams.

I thought going into season Malone might actually be the Lawless winner if he played both ways.

Every team in the state has the option to practice all the way up to Thanksgiving weekend.
I know.I don't mean to get snippy but that is always the complaint about the Prep Bowl playoffs.I think any school that plays in the CCL should be eligible.Pissing & moaning got teams like Bishop Mac and Providence not eligible to be in it.On the CPS side I think it's stupid Chicago Conference schools can only play in the state playoffs not the city playoffs and only the top 2 in each conference at that!! The Inner city conference teams can't play in either

It's not a cheap shot, nor a "flyby." I don't even like MC but you criticize the coaching staff every chance you get on threads mentioning MC. So interesting you call that cowardly, but not passive aggressive comments like your own.

It is both a cheap shot and a "fly by". And I complement the MC staff all the freaking time. You apparently are just way, way too hypersensitive on a message board to notice. Saying the team can be great if appropriate personnel decisions are made means, for one example, I love Alek Thomas but love him most on the edge rather than taking snaps as he's more dangerous. And believe it or not, the coaches did precisely that in the 4th quarter of the Providence game when they brought Trudeau back in. So I was agreeing with the coaches.

Now carry on with your lame message board passive aggressiveness

For now , O line brings back LT Brown, LG Cooper. I am guessing Mendiola gets a shot at RT as he was up as a soph and played a little there on soph team at end to get reps. OC RG are open. I liked Gilhooly at RG on soph team a lot. I loved the Center on frosh Bruce. Frosh had a huge line, specifically the OC/RG/RT TE Billingsley/Wilkins. Backs Kyle Davis, Rias, Nakos. My best guess they go Dutton at QB and put Thomas all over like this year.

The MC sophs beat the Providence sophs just last week, and I thought the MC fans on this board might enjoy the dramatic ending:

Yep they veered from the veer (pun intended) at the end, but they certainly beat Providence.

Surprised I haven't seen Matt Lenti's name listed anywhere on this thread. I thought he was very impressive this year on the sophomore team as a WR/safety. Athletic, intelligent, instinctual, hard hitter. I like him a lot a safety. Another might me Rad Premovic. As much as people talked about Dutton as the future QB, and I agree, the sop coaches actually gave Rad most of the starts this year and more snaps. I think Dutton certainly projects far higher at QB, but Rad is a heady player and runs very well. He's another I think would project well as a safety or possibly WR.

Guido how come you are only showing 7 posts to date?. I count 10 times that amount for you in various threads over the past 3-4 months? Are you deleting them to keep the # of posts down?

Show me your trick! I look like I spend my life on here with the # of posts I have for the short amount of time I have actually been posting!
