1. Its good to know you guys are checking out the boards to keep a good pulse of what is going on with the fanbase. Its very smart of you guys to do this and shows how much ahead ya'll are of the previous administration.

2. I'm not going to send you my name or contact information, but when I see you this Fall, I will reveal it to you. Yes, you do know me

3. I'm also not going to reveal anything I know about our basketball program to anybody. This is a message board and public forum for which things can be said in anonymity, and thats where they will stay. I do not wish to hurt any of our programs. My statement was made to get under another poster's skin and to show his hypocracy of hating Jackie yet revering Stansbury. Anybody with a pulse knows the dirtiness of college basketball and what schools are doing to skirt the rules. I'm well aware that Coach Stansbury has never been officially accused of breaking any rules and I admire that. I'm very excited about the talent he has put together for this upcoming season so that he may show how truly great a coach he is.

You guys are doing a great job and I can't put into words the optimism I and others have for the upcoming years for our school. Now go back and work on getting Sidney eligible and quit worrying about ******** like this.

1. I will not reveal what I know of Coach34's love of small farm animals or the REAL reason he no longer coaches girl's volleyball. We all know Coach34 has never been convicted of anything and does not have to register as a sex-offender, but anyone with a pulse knows there are some real weirdos out there posting on message boards.

and it's true that you know Stans has paid a basketball player.

We can consider that an established fact, witnessed by you, that Stansbury pays basketball players. I mean, don't be a ***** and say it, then sorta say it, then say it, then say you didn't say it.

I have a pulse. I have no clue what schools are doing in basketball to skirt the rules. I guess it could be naivety. But, now I'm curious. Without throwing our program under the bus, cite what other schools have been doing to skirt the rules and use that to support how dirty you claim college basketball to be.

I keep hearing about all this exploitation of the AAU system and all the shadiness surrounding it. But, never anything factual - just hearsay and assumptions.

Educate me Coach, I'm all ears.

that makes people feel important and "in the know" to repeat. I've seen the statement defended many times on here. Obviouosly without any proof other than "everybody knows it".

That's what get's me about the notion that cheating in college athletics is prevalent. You always hear about how it happens frequently, but it's always in a general sense. Or, the "I heard through my cousin's girlfriend's brother" sense. I'm by no means going to advocate there isn't an element of shady business here and there. People are going to cheat - that's unavoidable. But, I will always remain skeptical of the folks that claim cheating goes down left and right, that college sports are dirty, and that you "have to cheat" to win. I don't buy it.

If cheating was such common place, we would have whistle blowing by coaches, players, and boosters every year at every major program. There is no way in hell that amongst so many cheaters, there wouldn't be at least half as many snitches just waiting to take somebody down. Since programs aren't getting thrown under the bus every year, I'm left with having to think that cheating just doesn't happen as much as people like to think it does in their fantasy land.

The part you arent comprehending is hating Jackie yet revering Stansbury. They are both good recruiters and Jackie never gave a player money either.

Of course I know no one wants Coach to get actually sued for making dumb statements, but anonymous posters have been sued by companies and individuals for libelous statements.

I would never take such a case, but I could see someone taking such a case on a pro bono basis just for fun.

in the case of basketball- boosters of different schools "donate" large sums of money to AAU programs. Money can then be distributed to certain players thru AAU. Thus the popularity of AAU ball with HS prospects and fathers like Sidney's starting their own program.

I would cool it. The worse thing that can happen to any Msu fan is for the athletic department to determine who you are and ban you from attending any campus games. Saying more can only hurt not help. JMO.

come on, coach, make up your mind. Is Stans buying players or isn't he? You insinuate that he is in one post, and when that post gets the attention of the school's compliance officer you come back with a bunch of pussyfooting doublespeak. And then you imply that neither Jackie NOR Stans ever gave a player money...so which is it? I'm saying right now that I think you are full of ****...not that this is news to anyone, but I tend to call a spade a spade.

Shoplifting is a very prevalent violation of the law, especially in retail stores (thats why they always have a certain percentage allowed for "pilferage"). Yet, it is very rare that someone gets caught. People do get caught, but much less than the frequent than those who get away with it.

Coaches arent going to "snitch" (except for maybe coaches in Knoxville), especially if it is a prevalent as people assume. No one wants their own program under the microscope of another coach or program. Which is exactly what would happen if coaches and AD's started "tattling" on each other.

You narrowed it down to saying Stans is the second biggest buyer of players in the SEC.

Get in touch with Bracky if you really do have something. It'll either bring Stans down or they can do something to correct it. I'm not exactly sure which situation you'd be more happy with.

He did not mean, as you assumed, when he said "Jackie didn't pay players either" that "neither Jackie nor Stans paid players." He meant "either" argumentatively, as in the example: "I'd prefer to play a round of golf with John Daley instead of Tiger Woods. Daley is more fun and he isn't an ******* either."

Shoplifting. You are correct, it is a crime that is prevalent and isn't caught too often.

So, would you agree with the statement that "everybody shoplifts"? How about "If you aren't shoplifting, you aren't really shopping!"

I don't think you would. I'd also bet most people would be offended if someone just assumed they shoplifted because there is some assumption that "everybody does it".

I think for that argument to hold water either A) you have to assume that <span style="font-style: italic;">everybody</span> has something to hide, B) the programs that don't have anything to hide enjoy taking it up the *** by cheating programs, or C) the snitches get silenced.

A is unrealistic, B isn't likely, and C teeters into conspiracy land.

I'm still left with believing cheating isn't a huge deal until I'm proven otherwise. Again, I don't think it's non-existent. I just believe it's at a manageable level where it isn't a dominant, or even major, variable in college athletics - as many do believe.

He has been spewing the same statements "I just do it to get under the stans lovers skin and to get a rise" for a good 3 years now.
he has admitted on the board several times in the past year and also to me in a PM.

The fact that people know this and still give him an audience shows how stupid some of the posters are.

Sorry, I shouldve quoted what I was referring to in the above post. I didnt say everybody cheated. I just said it is quite possibly more prominent than what actually gets brought to surface.

I agree that it would not be fair and I would not want to be grouped into such a group if I were obeying the rules. I have no knowledge of any cheating that Stansbury or any other coach has done, and I am not accusing him of cheating.

All I am saying is that in a cut-throat business like college athletics, rules tend to be pushed to the limits if not broken on a regular basis, whether they be major or minor. Coaches are very competitive (they better be), and some will push the limits if it means a chance of success.

What is your take on steroids in baseball? I know that technically, steroids were not banned when all of this started, but take that aside.

Clearly, it was more than just a few people doing it, yet nobody snitched(until Canseco, that is).

So for your A,B,and C:
A) we dont know if everybody had something to hide, but there are alot of people out there that believe they do.
B) If everyone was not cheating, then they were certainly getting screwed, because nobody snitched. And they cant tell me that they never saw it coming.
C) could still be a conspiracy, but the bottom had fallen out for baseball over the whole epidemic.</p>

Lets just hope the same thing doesnt come to light, if there is anything, at the collegiate level. (Cheating, that is, not necessarily steroids).</p>

I don't keep up with baseball enough to really get deep into the steroid argument.

On the surface, I could buy into the theory that every <span style="font-style: italic;">team</span> had at least one player juiced up. Therefore, players/organizations run the risk of getting themselves in trouble in addition to those that they accuse - much like you originally alluded to in your post earlier with college sports. Since Congress got involved with the steroid deal, obviously there was more than a minimal amount of juicing going on. I could see this having been a problem league-wide.

Also, when I think of "cheating" in college sports, I think of blatant disregard for recruiting regulations - more specifically - paid athletes. I'm sure there's a bend but don't break attitude at all programs with respect to regulations just so they can keep up or stay ahead of the game (texting, tweeting, etc. etc.). But, I assume that when most of us mention "cheating" in the same breath as college sports, we are really talking about paying players.

Out of the 100+ D1 college sports programs there are out there, I just can't see them all being committed to cheating and/or covering it up. In my opinion, there are just too many organizations involved for all of them to all be involved with or condone big time cheating.
