...since I heard you asked, here's what I think about our QB situation.
1. I think we looked pretty 17ing good until Russell took that shot to the head on the slide. That guy should have been penalized but the refs didn't want to toss him, so they swallowed their whistle, an unintended consequence of "making the game safer by more harshly penalizing targeting."
2. I think he was concussed but he wanted to go back in and we let him and you could tell from then on something was off.
3. I think he's injured now and we should obviously not bring him back before he's cleared.
4. I think now we are in a tough situation. We are down to one QB and his best talent is running. It was okay to run the Relf offense when we had a competent back-up. I'll remind you that Relf, as sturdy as he was, didn't finish several games during his two year run as a starter. Now if Dak is dinged up at all, we are royally 17ed. But since you're a Dak guy, I guess that just fills you with LOLs.
5. I think once Tyler is cleared, he'll play and he should. In 2011, we went 6-6 (without A&M or OSU on the schedule) while Russell sat and let Relf piddle his way to the finish line (and bailed him out once or twice as well, see UAB). Russell has earned the right to play if he's cleared.
6. I think that if our offensive line continues their play from Saturday, Dak and whoever our 3rd string QB is will both be seeing plenty of the field.
