I just read the article on BDJ about how you are instilling "the mind-set of a thief" into your players, forcing them to be aggressive and "get in the head" of the opposition; that you are teaching your players to have the attitude that we are no longer going to accept passivity, but are going to aggressively attack the game. I read with dropped jaw that you are forcing your kids to take very aggressive leads off first; that you are "expecting" them to steal bases. (WTF are you DOING?????????). I read that you are basically threatening them that they better damn well take an extra base whenever they get half a chance.

Can I just tell you, Mr. MF'n Cohen, how much I appreciate the fact that you are driving that stench of rank pussification out of this baseball program.

And thank you for earning your damn paycheck.

Now if we can get a football coach that demands expectations or big 3 staffs will be complete.

If you think about, Croom is the last vestige of stink from the LT era in the Big 3.

Johnny boy is GB's.

Rickey has no love for LT.

Rid ourselves of Croom and that terrible LT mentality and influence is gone.

That John Cohen would coach this football team better than CC. Think about the fire, passion and discipline he would instill. If we had at least that going for us we would win more games.

I just shook my head as I read it..
Grant Hogue. "Whenever you put the pressure on the defense it causes a lot of things to happen… things that haven't happened at Mississippi State. <span style="font-weight: bold;">It is definitely encouraging because it is fun to run a little bit and not get yelled at.</span>"
thank you Cohen!!!

and not getting yelled at for it! I can see now why Polk said that Byrne didn't have a clue how to run an athletic dept. or hire a baseball coach.

support the program anymore if we hired Cohen. I'm interested to see if he actually follows through on that.

When we are back winning that MF'er will be front and center, cheering louder than anybody.

hate in the upcoming Ole Miss/MSU games. Cohen and Bianco hate each other, and I fully expect that to trickle down to the players and fans.

Good times, my friends. Good times.

There's going to be some real bad blood between MSU and UM in baseball probably for the first time ever.

i really miss the days of jackie v. brewer/tuberville. it's fun to watch, as a fan, when the players and coaches are so passionate about the rivalry.

i wonder if khayat still wants to move the egg bowl to mid-season...

I thought that players were worried that Cohen would yell at them too much. Thanks Ron!

If it happens during the Gov. Cup where State and Ole Miss fans are mixed in the crowd with each other, we could very well see a brawl that would make Billy Martin proud- in the stands.

For example, if we win only 30 games a year, but we are still better than Ole Miss that's good enough for a lot of our fans- and vice versa.

MSU getting John Cohen was in part because of the success that Bianco has had. If Ole Miss has retained their 1996 form, we probably would have Raffo right now.

You can lead the nation, or damn close in attendance, and we can be top 10. Southern is even fielding good teams. Good play and intense rivalries can help publicize all the schools, and get people wanting to come down.

And yes, both our schools have a need to be just a little better than the other.

Someone has been posting on GP as kb77 or something like that and judging from the content of the posts I think ol' kb might have reemerged.</p>

State will be back, has tradition and etc. Ole Miss, USM, and Delta State all have very good programs and draw well. Plus, college baseball is very big here in Mississippi. The Gov. Cup has been copied in New Orleans, Atlanta, and now Montgomery with their local big two rival schools. When either State or Ole Miss host a SR or even a Regional, it's a huge event.

I sometimes wonder why we bother trying to be a "football" state.
