Memphis will always be about Tiger basketball. Nobody gives two ***** about the Grizzlies. The ownership is not local. They will be moving within 2-3 years, I believe. And good riddance.

I've been trying to find information on this. For some reason I recall there being a long-time contract between the FedEx Forum and either the NBA or the Grizzlies for a large number of years. I want to say that if they were to be bought out, their commitment to play at the Forum has to be bought out as well - which isn't cheap. Basically, anyone interested in buying the Grizzlies and moving it would have to pay a premium to get them out of the the Forum deal. I'm not saying that would never happen, but I assume that prospective buyers would look at multiple other options beyond the Griz since they would have to pay a good deal over the market value of the franchise itself to move it.

You're right though, nobody gives a **** about Grizzlies basketball. Just like Memphis Tigers football, the locals will support it only in good times. But, you can forget about it in bad times.

and it would cost a ton of money to break the lease. Almost to the point where it will make it almost impossible to move the team

Saying the U of M basketball will fall our of sight is ignorance... The recruiting class coming in next year will be stacked. Memphis will continue to be a dominate force for a while

The Grizz will not be moving in 2-3 years, and in the next 2-3 years we will see local ownership. The minority owners will become the majority owners, they are waiting for the price to come down a little more before making their move. I could go into depth about this a little more but I highly doubt you'd care since you think not having an NBA franchise in Memphis is a good idea.

Memphis has a great class coming in but the word here in Memphis is that it's already fraught with problems. Grades, attitude, off the court issues. You can't build a team on one-and-done players. Memphis will sink this year, blip back up on the radar the next, then drop to a respectable but not national level. The 12 year old coach won't be able to save the sinking ship.

If you think Memphis will not make the NCAA tournement you are a very poor judge of basketball talent

and Memphis isn't even projected to win their conference this season, I'd say that it's not a stretch. If Elliot Williams plays all year as well as I saw him play last week, they may have a shot due to playing in an abysmal conference, but I definitely don't think they'll coast into it.

On topic, If I had to sit down and write a list of all of the Grizzlies' screw ups in addition to Croom's, I don't know which list would be longer. I could write a novel of both.

how that recruiting class is going to help Memphis to a NCAA invite this year? You are just like every other delusional Memphis fan in this city. You think winning in recruiting has some impact on the court. Now, Memphis may make it to the NCAAs because they are in a horribly weak conference and they have the name recognition. But of all these recruits that won't be there until NEXT YEAR. But, as I said Memphis will tick back up, make some NCAAs and be a player for at least a couple of years. The reason Memphis moved back to prominence is sitting on the Kentucky bench right now.

That and Pastner is completely unproven at this point. Guaranteeing an NCAA bid requires at least a half decent coach. Pastner being a decent coach is an assumption at this point.

I think it's awesomely ironic that the local Memphis defender is named "cheat2win". Very appropriate.
