All 3 of our speedsters should be healthy next year. And our one good receiver will be returning with his 9.4 yards per catch average!!!!

We can't pay him... wait, what?

Well, he'd never want to live in Starkville. Lubbock is... wait, what?

Well, he'd never coach at a school that has no football tradition! Wait, what?

Those who say we could never get a guy like Mike Leach (or hell, Mike Leach himself) are stupid.

why would he want to do that again? If he makes a move, it will be with a high profile school that can pay him $3mil or more. We can't pay that.

Well if you got the funds to pony up to get this guy, by all means do so. Fans like you talk big, but when they pass the hat.....they are no where to be found.

I'd love to have Leach here. But, I'm not getting my hopes up.

He has a $1.5M buyout and his contract bumps up to almost $2.2M in 2010.

Croom has a $1.2M buyout - damn, it hurts to type that. Why????

MSU > TT just because of the SEC connection. But, I don't see how we could fork up the dough for him. Not saying I don't want to be in the situation where we could have him here. But, unless I just seriously underestimate the powers of Byrne, or how deep our pocketbooks could potentially be - I just don't see it.

Unfortuneatly, I think we are forced to go with the up and coming coordinator or retread route.

And you know this about me how? You're wrong, by the way. It's your defeatist attitude that will cause us to get stuck with another ****** coach once we finally wise up and fire Croom. "Oh, woe is us." - the motto of far too many of our fanbase.

Nope, I want a good coach too. But we are going to have to do it like Texas Tech did. Find a very good coordinator and grow with him. BTW, Mike Leach has been their coach 9 years. He has slowly built there program to what it is now. I see him staying and TT upping his salary to keep him happy. If I were him, I would stay put. All coaches are not always successful when they make a move.

You have virtually no chance of winning a National Title there.

You'd have to go through Texas, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma State just to win your division (Imagine how bad Baylor has it). Then you'd have to play a team like Missouri or Nebraska to win the Big 12. THEN you'd have to play some badass SEC team or USC for the National Title.

And it would be easier for him to come here to win a NC?

I understand your point and I agree that it is hard with OK and TX. I would love Leach because I sick of watching our sorry excuse of a offense. I just don't see why other than him wanting to be sucessful in the SEC for a reason to come to State and even that is weak agruement. He has been there almost ten years and he is not pressured to win a his conference every year or the national title. He has a great area to recruit from and if he stays there they with name the stadium or field after him. Why would he leave a good thing to come to State besides the SEC.

....the arguments used to always be "his offense won't work in the SEC" and "he never has any defense."

Please tell those things to the the Big 12, which is clearly the best conference in America right now.

do was agree to let him bring his whole staff with him and he was theirs 2 years ago. A majority of the Miami fans are still extremely pissed at that <17> up.

I was saying that Tech is a difficult job with Texas and Oklahoma to deal with every year (and A&M/OK ST. whenever they are any good). He'd have a much better chance at an ACC school like Florida State or Miami, or even at a school with basically limitless resources like Tennessee.
