Dear MSU network...NO baseball coverage in the Jackson, MS area

Yesterday, I got to listen to Ole Miss defeat traditional rival Florida International on Supertalk 97.3. Then, when I switched to 620 am to listen to USM play Troy. Then, I turn to 105.9, the "official Mississippi State station", and there's NBA basketball.

Why can't MSU get a network in the Jackson area, that will broadcast ALL MSU baseball games? It isn't like Mississippi State doesn't have a baseball tradition, is it?

I just started the Hailstate premium app

Need an active Hailstate.tv subscription and an extra $3, and you can listen to all games on your phone. Not bad.

It is, but don't you think we should concentrate on mastering turn of the 20th century technology before moving on to something else? I can't get anything in Natchez either.

The point is you should be able to turn on the radio and find the ballgame in the state - especially the larger metro areas. I tried yesterday too and found Lebron James instead of Adam Frazier.

SEC game, yes, non conference double header vs A10 on Sunday? Meh.

And even so, you could've used Tune In Radio to listen to the French Camp station or whatever the local affiliate in the GTR is. They were options available.

This^^^ When will people figure this out? It's been stated over and over on this board. You can listen if you have an internet connection, or a smartphone. Just like chat, its free.

With that said, It pisses me off that Ole Miss broadcasts a pre-season series and we don't. Our AD needs to revisit this entire radio broadcast situation. Spend a little more money and make your fans happy.

Can't believe people are defending this

Maybe their kids are responsible for the total botch of our radio broadcast network in all major sports.

Are you sure about the Tune-In radio app? From my experience, they will not live-stream games due to copyright issues. At least everytime I've tried to listen to a game on 105.9 the local radio (over the air) would have the game but the tune-in app would be playing some syndicated talk show.

Why is our Athletic Department ignoring the power of radio in sports marketting? What is on the radio all day long? Sports. What do people listen to when they drive? Sports. Do people use their iphone apps to listen to the radio while driving? Rarely. Did somebody at MSU totally 17 up our radio presence in all three sports? It sure sounds like it to me. I can get any Ole Miss or USM game on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The State broadcasts are so hard to catch that I rarely even try any more. Don't defend this ridiculous failing. Fix it.

I'm not defending the radio network, but in some areas of the state corporate sponsorship is not there. Of course, if we can't get sponsorship in Jackson, we might as well apply for membership in the Sunbelt.

I imagine there is a substantial demographic separation between those who are complaining and those who are not.

Add 98.1 Hattiesburg in with the list of **** stations that barely broadcast the games. This is in favor of Rush, Hannity, Beck and Larson. With the coast added, you have the entire southern half of the state being forced to listen to broadcasts via the internet or the app. Ole miss games are streaming all over the radio. It's a ******* joke.

Are people who want to listen to MSU sports while driving vastly separated demographically from those who don't? I doubt that seriously. Radio is still the foundation of love for many individuals' love for a sport or a team. Are you saying that a demographic exists that is above paltry radio? Or are you saying that those in the KNOW would AlWAYS STREAM and NEVER STOOP to OLD TECHNOLOGY?

Doubt it. I'm not concerned that I can't find the games. I'm concerned that MSU is losing the connection it needs around the state. Airtime is important for the university to advertise themselves. I have HailStateTV and numerous ways to listen. It's just a joke that the Ole Miss games are on two stations in my area and MSU games are rarely even on. MSU needs to find other stations that will actually broadcast the games instead of their "stronger" contracts with talk show hosts. It's ******** on a massive level.

I was looking for the State broadcast yesterday and found a crystal clear LSU broadcast. No MSU. In Jackson metro area.

It would be nice to turn on the radio in my truck while driving down the road and listen to a ****** MSU baseball game like I was able to do not too long ago. Or turn up the truck radio while working around the yard. Or listen on my boat radio while hanging out at the lake. Yeah, that's just too much to ask for. We suck at the simple things.

The past two Friday night games were on 105.9 in Jackson.

I listen to both on that channel. It's that way every year until Basketball is over then you will get all the games.

It is frustrating. At one time, MSU had the largest collegiate baseball

network in the nation. I'm thinking if we continue to win, we'll get picked up by more stations.

You went on the boat this weekend? It was cold.

Every SEC game will be on the statewide network so you can cruise for chicks on your boat blaring Jim all you want to starting next weekend bro.

Try the iHeart Radio app. I live in the Hattiesburg area and was able to listen to the DH on WNMQ.

This. I tweeted to Scott Stricklin about this when the Friday night Purdue game wasn't being broadcast. It was an MSU Baseball Radio Network broadcast and wasn't being carried by a network affiliate. He said he would get our people to look into it. They've been this way for years.

I've e-mailed him several times about it. MSU fans in this area are all fed up with it. Something will change if we keep bringing it up to the athletic department..... I hope

Demographic difference?

I imagine there is a substantial demographic separation between those who are complaining and those who are not.

Maybe, maybe not. If there is, what are the odds that those complaining are also older, financially secure, and donate at a 2:1 or greater level over the others? If you are a dedicated State baseball fan, perhaps you go out of your way to use whatever Internet technology necessary to listen to the game. But that wouldn't apply to the casual fan or God forbid the potential new State fan, would it? For the record, I live out of state, so I have no personal complaint about our radio network or lack thereof inside the confines of Mississippi. I do believe that this a bad situation though and doesn't reflect very well on our marketing plan.

So you should sit at your pc all game long? God forbid you're in the car and...

want to catch the game. Our media relations, marketing, and anything radio broadcast related is a joke. You can find Ole Miss anywhere in the state on your radio dial. Meanwhile, half of our "network" is AM stations.

Isn't there a note pinned at the top of this forum that says that stations such as French Camp are blocked on TuneIn when there's a baseball game on? I'm pretty sure that's what it says ... I read it several days ago.

Why don't you call the station in Jackson and ask them why they're not carrying the games?
