Sorry if this has already been discussed....
The thing that is mainly killing us this year at DB is the thing that killed us last year. Nikoe. Last year he wasn't fully back from the achilles and this year something is clearly wrong with his knee. I'd be interested to see what his 40 time is right now, because he is wayyyyy too slow to be playing free safety. Most of the wide open receivers were in zone coverage when Nikoe was supposed to be coming over and was entirely too late. They scored two touchdowns where any free safety in college football should be able to force the guy out at the 10 and Nikoe never gets close to catching them even with an angle. Even on his interception he was out of position (thankfully I guess).
So the question is this... Do we not have anyone else who can play free safety, or are our coaches being overly loyal to a guy who was outstanding before injuries?

All I saw were DB's covering other DB's. Seriouslly, the last time I Saw a secondary that lost Rohan Davey Torched us for 500+....replace NW and you still lose by fiddy. All the speed in the world is meaningless w/o the instincts for the position. Man I miss banks & slay. Banks is definitely proof that speed ain't everything in getting to the NFL as a DB.

Whitley is probably the best we've got

I can't imagine feeling more apathetic about a guy who very well could end up our career INT leader. I think he needs 4 in the next 7 games.

He's hit or miss. Either making good plays or he's getting burnt / missing a tackle. He rarely wraps up when making a tackle. He appears to not be going 100% at all times - but it's hard to tell if it's because he's banged up or simply not playing hard. I hate it because most of us loved him as a freshman & sophomore... but he's been a major weakness since his injury.

I think ideally we could move Cox because he's been terrible at CB. My hope is Redmond lives up to the hype and can move into the 4-man rotation with Love, Calhoun, and Jiles while we transition Cox to FS. But I really don't see us doing that at this point. We've pretty much got to live with him for the rest of this year.

Haha theres some good stuff right there. There's a couple 'coaches' that some people take everything they say as the gospel who don't quite seem to know ****. Most people seemed to think chris jones wasn't going to do ****. After reading through that I'm very thankful that a select few have moved on to eliter pastures.
