You do know that coaches have areas in recruiting. They don't necessarily recruit their position, except on campus.
We sign 4 star guys at every other position. How do those coaches convince them ? You think they don't have 5 other SEC schools offering ? And no...for the most part coaches recruit their players. Do you think Bump is recruiting DL ? C'mon man...be serious. Change is coming. Turner does not recruit. He is done.
Yea, time to move on. Turner literally can't pay anyone to play for him. There are FCS schools with better DLine talent than we have.
Right ? We had a 3 star true freshman and a back up from Purdue playing all year. Neither of them are SEC ready. And then people come on the board and say " why the 17 can't we stop the run ? They get 4 yards a carry". No kidding. Of course they do
Turner obviously can't recruit or wont recruit. We got 2 4 star LB. 4 star QB. Last year some 4 star WR. Nobody is stopping him from getting out there and finding some decent DL. It's not 1999 anymore. I promise you Lebby knows we need linemen. He ain't that dumb. He can't win without them
He's keeping Hutzler so at this point I'm not really sure how smart Lebby is. But at least Hutzler can recruit a little, I'm not sure what Turner brings to the table anymore.
A couple that I hear is Roach from Alabama ( not likely) and Chavis from Oklahoma
Yeah I think Roach is pretty locked in. Chaves would be an upgrade imo. Hell I would be an upgrade...lol.
Fire Turner, Hire a good DL coach and make him co-defensive coordinator (i.e. the real DC) and Hutzler's duties can be Lebby Showtime fluffer.
This probably has more to do with three down linemen than talent.
We don't have talent, but when you scheme three down lineman (who have no talent) to stop the run it makes it worse.
I think they are actually correct about it too.
Sometimes if you don't have the linemen you gotta try to compensate. He ran plenty of 4 down also. When you are playing a guy that couldn't get on the field at Purdue and a 3 star true freshman every game you got serious issues. True enough Dink was out all year AGAIN and Williams was fighting some injury and didn't round into form until the last couple games. You got Deonta Anderson and Demonte Russell. And a couple of RS freshmen. Not much help really. Not gonna stop the likes of Texas and Georgia. And no pass rush either. So now the QB has all day for receivers to get open or just break contain. It's obvious what 80% of the problem is. Isaac Smith and Stone Blanton can't tackle everybody
We've got plenty of money for Hutzler. Lebby just refuses to fire him.
It’s true. His buyout isn’t that big. It’s about half what we paid Arnett last year so we could hire a guy to do a much worse job.
I personally think with the house settlement, there is a financial squeeze right now, and they don’t want to cough up the buyout money. Cost cutting.
I'm pretty sure Turner wasn't Lebby choice anyway and now he has decided he is the biggest problem on defense and it costs nothing to let him walk. He has not done squat recruiting. Who did he go get last year ? The year before ?? Look at his haul in this year's class. See any 4 star DL ?? How many 4 star DL did he get last year from high school ? How would you grade the guys he went and got from the portal ??

All wrong. We can afford the buyout, but Lebby has chosen to keep him. Turner needs to go because the game has changed and passed him by in the last 5 years. He ain't with this new game.
I hate it. I like DT, and appreciate his history and, heck, I like old school ways as much as anyone... But he does not like the new game, so he's not good at it. Unfortunate, but true.
DT can coach them once they're here. It's the getting them in here that's his problem.

I wonder how much work he put towards getting Kevin Oatis ? It's pitiful when Arkansas steals out of your own backyard. I mean LSU or Bama or OM, but Arkansas ? Not one DL signed. At least last year he rounded up one 3 star guy. He might be pretty good next year since he had to play all year this year.
Agree. He was a great DL coach for us. But every coach reaches the end of his time he can be effective. And Turner is a couple of years past that time. He has to go.
The writing on the wall isn't in his favor for the past two years. Now if we were talking years past, different story. Just seems something isn't happening that should or used to happen.
Hell. Danny Devito would be an upgrade even if he was recruiting DL he could see "eye to eye" with!
