we are in big trouble, first off we have no playmakers on defensive end this year. dont say eulls-he hasnt played a snap.

2ndly, we have cox, boyd, virges coming back next year thats IF cox doesnt go pro. we redshirt jones and hopefully he puts on enough weight to play as a RS freshman. that means we have to sign a freshman that can come in and play(quay evans) some developmental guys, and some juco DT talent.
is Mullen really THIS bad at recruiting? I mean come on. We just cant win for losing, finally get a great coach from x's and o's motivation, but he is the worst recruiter in the SEC THUS FAR.

Our DL is in good shape for the next 2 years. I dont see Boyd or Cox jumping for the NFL, though both will be draft pics after their SR year. Plus, Jon Harris is already on campus.

The MS 2012 class is loaded with DL prospects too. Evans, Ward, and a couple others can sure up our DL for a while.

we have 7 of our 9 DL guys returning in 2011- and only 1 will be a senior. 1. One. Uno

2011:

Seniors- Sean Ferguson
Juniors- Trevor Stigors, Josh Boyd, Fletcher Cox, Devin Jones, Shane McCardell
Sophs- Corvell Harrison Gay, Paul Crawford
Freshman- Kaleb Eulls, Curtis Virges, PJ Jones, John Harris, Preston Smith

Try being Mississippi- they lost all 4 DT's on the 2-deep...I'm just not seeing where we are in emergency recruiting status

How do you figure we're in good shape for 2 years? We have Cox, Boyd, Virges, Jones at DT after this year. I dont see Jones as being ready as a RS Freshman.

At linebacker we signed 3 last year and 2 this year and we wont lose anyone after this year. We are just fine at linebacker. As talented as this year? No, but there is plenty of depth and some star power for 2 seasons from now.

Preston Smith-2 star, John Harris-2 Star.

Stigers has disappointed, Paul Crawford IS NOT on our team.

I thought Devin Jones would be a senior this year, my bad.

I am mainly talking about 2012 not 2011.

can't remember his name, but he was in the 2 deep rotation last year...Juco guy, not Carmon

Edit: Jeff Howie

and not counted on a Freshmens to take care of it.

They'll both be SRs in 2012. Plus we'll have Vigers (red soph), PJ Jones (red fresh), and Quay Evans (freshman) and whoever else we might add .

I know, I know, on Evans having a long way to go..

I consider LB the weaker of all the two ...basically just because of unproven guys getting a lot of snaps.

will be better than the 2011 DL ....

And I wouldnt down 2-star players:

Chris Relf- 2-star
Dak Prescott- 3-star
Tyler Russell- 4-star

of the 3, the highest-rated player is the least likely to start at QB. You just never know who will pan out and who won't

I don't see any reason to worry about our DL for the 2013 season. We've got 2 recruiting classes left before then. I would love for Cox or Boyd to be good enough in 2011 to be drafted next year, but I really don't see that happening.

And while we're talking about it --- what ever happened to Joshua Jackson? Is he still on the team? Also, isn't Maiden considered either a DT or OL prospect? I wouldn't be suprised to see one of the many OL prospects we've signed the last two years make the move to DL.

I'm not writing either of them off, in fact I like both of em a lot-think Smith should be rated higher w/ the stats he had this year. Just saying the odds arent good of both of them panning out (stigers-3 star-garbage, Mccardell-4 star, underachieving etc). Just thinking we are going to have to sign some solid DT's next year. Does devin jones have 2 more years or 1? and I dont think Boyd will leave early but I could see Fletcher being a first rounder after this year.

This is ridiculous. We have plenty of depth on the d-line. We will know even more after this year when we see how the red shirts do.
