Delayed Draws

When we pass, the D rushes 3 and drops 8. When we handoff, the LBs stay home and crash the line. It is pretty easy for the D to read. So, since the LBs are so quick to drop out once Will starts his drop steps, why don't we ever run any delayed draws? Let the back stay in to "block" and wait a couple seconds. Once the LBs drop out and the rush has creates lanes, we should have some room to run. Are the LBs not dropping deep enough?

I saw at least one shuffle pass that is basically same play. It worked once, I don't know if they tried it again. I quit watching.

Granted, a shovel pass doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, but neither does a shuffle one.

One of the problems with our offense on Delayed Draws is the Mesh. We run the inside receivers on crossing routes where the LBs are that stay home as you say. This allows them to play both the middle pass and the run up the middle.

And that’s just one of the issues. Another one is that our 5 pass blockers on the O line are rarely capable of even holding their ground against a rush, much less getting a push.

It doesn’t matter what RB we have in the backfield because 90% of the time they get the handoff, there’s an air tight wall of 8 300 pounders in front of them along with 2-3 LBs just waiting as the second line of defense. Our backs have to break a minimum of 2-3 tackles to pick up 5 yards

Typically double teaming the DEs. If the Guards released downfield and blocked those LBs effectively we would be gaining 5-10 yards per run play.
