is correct. Thames is always 'Tims' unless you are Rick Whitlow doing sports on Channel 12 when he announced his uncle 'Thaims' commiting to State back in the eighties!

with the last name Thames that is pronounced the same way...it's ok, believe me. If it's ok in Vicksburg, it's ok...unlike a name like Favre that is pronounced Farve...on the sorry *** coast.

That's how I know how "Thames" is pronounced: Because I have been hearing about the River Thames in London since I could read/watch TV.

Of course it is pronounced "Tims" and of course this should be no surprise because there is fairly famous river in England by that name.

Now, Den-y-us or Den-Ice, I have no explanation for.
