Rashada not good enough to make 2nd or 3rd string qb? I'm really worried about our depth at qb and our lines ability and our coaches sometimes stupidly to keep KT healthy. Too many rushes up the middle and too many whiffed blocks like the last few seasons make me worry about the back up qb depth. Is Swann good enough to be that guy?

We’ll see if they can play as a unit, but that starting offensive line is massive.

Obviously if Kamario gets hurt we are screwed, but that OL depth is terrifying too.

We are going to need some serious injury luck this year at several positions. I feel ok about most of our starters but boy do I feel nervous about some of those second and third team names.

Well, this is mostly different guys, so hope springs eternal.
I'm not sure how he has recovered from his injury, but Steen was a starter for us last year and now he's swing OT I believe, so that gives some hope we are at least better on the outside OL spots than last year. Granted we could be better and still be terrible.

It's pretty bad, but we should be able to handle exactly one injury without it being a catastrophe. DJ Chester could presumably play center if needed, and then Steen has at least played on the interior. But if we have one injury, then we basically don't have an adequate offensive lineman to plug in if somebody else needs a breather or has to come out for whatever reason.

Can anyone tell me anything good about our backup QB’s ?
Hell, just tell me anything about them and it’ll be more than I know now

Swann has been at Vandy, LSU, and App State. He’s thrown 32 college TDS, but he’s clearly here In Case of Emergency and will likely look like it.

Puckett was the QB at Jackson Prep two years ago. I’d be shocked if he is ready for this level.

There it is. It's back. The word you only hear during college football season, and you'll hear over and over again til your ears bleed.

Had to laugh as I had the same reaction, jumped right off the page. Athleticism way up there too but will extend well past FB season.

Looks good to me. About as expected I suppose. Depth is an issue on the line but when is it not ? Who has 8 guys ready to start ? Lebby says he feels good about 7 guys. And obviously we only have one quality QB. Hopefully one. Not many teams have 2. Some not really even one.

Yeah at one point in time Swann was considered a promising QB but he had some absolutely terrible games at App State last year. He’s got 18 career starts but I wouldn’t exactly feel good if he ever had to start for us.

Honestly we are dealing with the same depth issues most teams would have at Oline now. Those guys command a big check and will leave to find it. Easy to find fast receivers in the portal, not so easy to find an SEC left tackle that can reliably protect the QB's blind side.

My one complaint is that we have our starting LT listed as an “or”. Hopefully that means that they are both capable and fighting for the spot and not which ever fat body we roll out there for the night

I think Swan is a legitimately decent 2nd string qb. Saw the Prep kid play against the West Jones state champions team & just get killed. Took a lot of hard hits & kept coming back. Impressed me. Then the next year when the WJ defensive line graduated he just torched them. Good hs qb. But if he plays meaningful snaps we’re in trouble. I have no idea why we signed Rashada.

Biggest surprise to me, and not a good one, is the DL we got from A&M is listed as an OR 2nd string player. I hoped for better from him.

Well #3 Swann was a 3star in some boards and a 4 star on a couple.
# 4 Rashada was a high 4 star.
#2 was an MAIS QB. That’s all I got on him.

I guess mentally I’m still conditioned for the Mullen era where all our backups on the OL were either highly regarded young guys or older dudes in their 3rd and 4th years in the program. Gotta be really hard to develop OL depth in the portal era. Also we just haven’t recruited that well with high school OL recently, either.

I think Bledsoe is a decent player but yeah I had higher hopes for Evans, too. Maybe he’ll come on as the season goes on.

I have to keep reminding myself that as nice as it is to get some of these blue blood transfers, there’s probably a reason they aren’t still playing for a blue blood anymore in many of these cases. Just gotta hope their leftovers are good enough to become solid contributors for us.

Lets hope that ULM doesn't give us that one injury on a late game junk play when we have the game in hand.

Yeah with KT being named the guy so early, couldn't exactly get a decent name on portal for a back up or competition. That makes me nervous with so little experience too for him. I mean I get it you go big qb shopping he likely gets mad and leaves. Can't build any good depth a qb any more with the portal
