You would always want your tibia nailed, not plated, if at all possible. Plates are for intra-articular fractures of the tibia at the ankle or knee. I nail every tibia I possibly can. Better mechanical stability and less soft tissue damage.<div>

having now seen the injury video, he is more likely to have sustained a tibia plateau fracture like sean peyton sustained. If that is the case, I would plate it. given he is an NFL player I would add BMP, but still wouldn't let him return to weight bearing for 6 weeks which would put him out of the playoff picture. In that case I would keep him off of it for 12 weeks total.<div>

That is why I would think that Manning would call it a day. Once a patient is fused, they can count on a new one just about every 10 years or so (particularly with the lumbar fusions due to the lumbar spine carrying more weight than the cervical spine).cb6228 said:
